The GSC Sustainability Lead is accountable to formulate, plan and execute the 2030 GSC Roadmap to deliver on Pfizer 2040 Net Zero commitments and roadmap. The GSC Sustainability Lead has accountability for orchestrating an aligned strategy at global, regional and local level for Pfizer GSC, as well as specific ownership of our GSC emissions performance, goal setting and performance. The scope encompasses Domestic (in - market) and international transportation, Warehousing and Circularity (3R‘s - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). The GSC Sustainability Lead represents GSC at both T6 (PGS LT) and T5 (GSC LT) on all matters related to our strategy, initiatives and performance, as well as meeting our market obligations and reporting with respect to packaging waste and circularity e.g EPR – Extended Producer Responsibility. The GSC Sustainability Lead is accountable to communicate and advocate internally and externally to embed a strong culture and mindset that thinks and acts in alignment with our Net Zero goals inclusive of upstream product design as part of Strategic Product Agendas in partnership with PPL/ BSL teams (Product Portfolio Leaders and Brand Supply Leaders) , while ensuring compliance with global environmental regulations and sustainability standards. They will lead the core global team (direct reports) as well as lead and direct a large virtual team comprising local/ regional/ global, partner functions across GLNS as well as strategic partners from Digital, Finance, Quality and Procurement. MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:Roadmap to Net Zero: Designs and develops a strategic roadmap and initiatives that deliver 90% reduction in value chain (scope 3) GHG emissions by 2040 (Net Zero). Scope includes all aspects of Transportation, Warehousing and 3Rs/ Circularity.Translates the global framework into detailed action plans for all related functions at global, regional and local level ensuring the correct and appropriate governance and measurement across all organizations.Directs and influences all levels of the organization to ensure initiatives are translated into short and mid term targets, objectives are aligned to team and individual goals and measured accordingly. Determines a balanced portfolio of measures and initiatives, inclusive of strategic investments in ‘insetting’ and ‘offsetting’ measures, and use of LEFV – low emissions fuels and vehicles as appropriate.Manages over all plan and alignment through the extended global team, both directly and indirectly through virtual teams and global partner functions.Decarbonization of Transportation:Execution and translation of the Roadmap into a holistic program of initiatives across International and Domestic transportation, in close partnership and collaboration with GTS (Global Transport Solutions), GCF (Global Customer Fulfilment) and where impacted, the local market and regional GSC teams. Seeks to leverage and drive both physical Network Design opportunities, changes in Mode of Transport e.g Train and improvements in technology e.g. electric trucks, to provide new sources of opportunity for decarbonization, works closely with colleagues across all GLNS functions. Strategically assesses the relevant and appropriate investments in Low Emissions Fuels (e.g Biofuels) and Vehicles (LEFV) and develops plans accordingly to ensure budgets are in place, sourcing secured in close partnership with GTS and Procurement.Through the extended global team, facilitates plans and actions taken in markets and regions to drive good practice in the last mile distribution to first paying customers. Green Market Logistics:Engages, educates and onboards the regional and market logistics teams to ensure full alignment and prioritization aligned to the global roadmap and goals.Drives the correct strategies of in-market logistics, avoiding use of Air transport wherever possible. Shares and replicates good practices and playbooks to support market teams in the discussions and negotiations with 3rd Party providers in the market, to ensure adoption of sustainable practices.In partnership with the regions/ markets, negotiates and ensures gradual and full transition to Renewable Energy for all warehousing operations at all LSPs by 2030. Coaches and supports the extended global team (directly partnering where needed) to drive the correct conversations with Commercial teams in – market, and support in requests for support according to local regulations and reporting requests.3 R (Reduce, Re-use, Recycle) and Circularity:Devises and deploys roadmap to eliminate and reduce as much as possible the tertiary packaging used for international transportation as well as the tertiary packaging used for local market transportation. Drives in collaboration with GLNS SMEs, elimination of unnecessary packaging, such as blankets for Ocean, and weight reduction in all packaging solutions supporting further reductions in cost, carbon emissions and waste. Supports and promotes innovation and collaborations across the PGS network to strive to eliminate EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) as per PGS T6 guidance in all packaging solutions, replacing with recyclable solutions and technology. Launch EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) governance and reporting, ensuring capture and provision of reporting and data as per government mandates globally. Data and Reporting:Accountable to drive the vision and direction for Sustainability reporting, KPIs, measurement and digital solutions, incorporating our own managed network as well as that of our customers in the downstream distribution chain (Category 9). Owns and coordinates the declared emissions reporting on behalf of GSC as inputs to Corporate, PGS and GSC internal measurement in close collaboration with PGS and corporate affairs. Sets renewed targets for regular review at T5 and ensures all team, regional and local targets are aligned with the overall GSC annual commitments.Supports critical commercial requests for data in relation to new tenders bids/ submissions, accountable for environmental waste reporting solutions and data and required collaboration with PGS and External Supply networks to drive ownership of data and packaging attributes.Ensures required digital enhancements, project resources and funding are assessed and included in GSC goals, and digital funding requirements as part of the budgeting process. Also provides input to and supports annual GLNS budget submissions in relation to transportation and fuel. Tenders and Sustainable Medicines:In collaboration with EHS and Data Disclosure team, supports all Commercial teams asking for Sustainability Pfizer data (with sense of urgency) and maintains an information platform for all markets and global teams. In collaboration with International GSC BU Tenders team, gathers all LCAs prioritization and obtains the appropriate support and funding of Net-Zero team and EHS.In collaboration with the GSC BUs, incorporates into PPL standard work the support to Sustainable medicines and provide training. In collaboration with PPLs/ BSLs develop methodologies to track the progress to decrease carbon footprint of major products. IMEx/Leadership Ecosystem:Through the leadership ecosystem, translates the Roadmap and T5/6 Blueprint into priority goals for GSC at T4 and T3 level, establishing a clear vision for Global Sustainability and clear alignment across Global, Regional and local teams.Leverages robust metrics and governance through the VM process to ensure adherence to targets, tracks initiatives and milestones through the CI loop.Team Leadership, Organization, Training and Development:Effective management, coaching and development of the team members, ensuring development of colleague and team capability. Proactive management of key talent, use of zig zag and growth opportunities, in partnership with GLNS and GSC peers and colleagues, as well as across PGS. Development and deployment of Sustainability fundamentals training for all colleagues across GSC, as well as specific courses as needed for the core team.Budget/Financials:Directs responsibility and accountability for the relevant budgets inclusive of OpEx, Digital and project management/ contractors. Generation of cost saving initiatives and delivery of same. Manages ad hoc budget needs for specific strategic projects, digital investments, consultancy spend as required. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION:Educated to degree level. Masters level an advantage. Higher education in Sustainability and / or related disciplines, to degree/ postgraduate level is an advantage. Deep understanding of supply chain and logistics network of Pfizer is needed. May have advanced degree in business or engineering. EXPERIENCE: Proven ability to formulate long term strategy and translate into projects and action. Extensive experience within industry in Sustainability/ Environmental sciences/ Supply Chain roles. Worked in large complex multi-national organizations with complexity in operations and footprint. Deep understanding of sustainability global legislation, greenhouse gas accounting, carbon footprint analysis, and the regulatory landscape for climate-related goals. SKILLS: Digital experience in supporting design and development of reporting capabilities, visualization and creation of KPIs.Ability to work with 3rd parties to support capture of activity and master data in support of robust and auditable KPI measurement.Proficient in all Microsoft applications, in depth in use of Teams and PPT .Digital knowledge preferred of workflow automation – use of Copilot, desktop automation tools e.g. Power Automate.Strategic, technical, and leadership capabilities as well as an agile and fast learner adaptive to fast changing regulations environment. Strategy development, deployment, and applicable change management experience demonstrated through organizational and/or process transformation.Strong project management skills to oversee the roadmap to Net Zero, including implementing sustainable practices at local, regional and global level. Influencing and directing sourcing, packaging and logistics practices, consistent with our targets and emissions goals. Leadership and team management experience directly managing the core global team, and leadership of large virtual x-functional across the organization. Excellent communication skills to communicate to all levels in GSC organization, to lead and advocate for prioritization of sustainability initiatives. Understanding and external orientation to explore emerging technologies and industry trends, circular economy, renewable energy solutions and digital enablers. Representation of Pfizer as required in external events, conferences and peers connections to share learning and experiences. Sound foundation in financial management and acumen.Sound knowledge of IMEX principles and leadership ecosystem.
