Production Network Engineering is a new mission aligned operating model within the newly formed Network Product Design & Engineering domain at Barclays. Network Product Design & Engineering is responsible for the design, build and run of the underlying strategic network infrastructure platforms and the over-the-top connectivity products and services that enable colleagues, guests and partners.Applying for this role is straight forward Scroll down and click on Apply to be considered for this position.To be successful in this role as an Engineering Manager – Production Network Engineering, you should possess the following skillsets:ResponsibilitiesLead engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives.Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management and task prioritization to ensure the successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget.Mentor and support team members' professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement.Evaluate and enhance engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize team productivity.Collaborate with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions and ensure a cohesive approach to product development.Enforce technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions.Qualifications / ExperienceExtensive experience as an individual contributor and a leader of teams that design, build and operate network products across all 7 layers of the OSI stack from physical through to virtual. Specialist understanding of Layer 1 - 4 Protocols (examples: G.9802.1/WDM, Ethernet, VXLAN, TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, Access Transport such as PON, xDSL, DOCSIS, FWA, Wireless Standards such as Wi-Fi, LTE, 5G). Knowledge of MEF Standards (CE.3.0, LSO) and Overlay IP/VPN technologies (e.g., RFC2547bis, RFC7432, RFC8365/RFC9746), Software Defined Networking and Network Instrumentation technologies (e.g., gNMI/gRPC, Y.1731, Y.1564, TWAMP).Experience with virtual infrastructure ecosystems (e.g., OpenStack, Kubernetes, QEMU, KVM, HCI) across Cloud Platforms (Public/Private/Hybrid) and uCPE platforms (x86, ARM), including open networking technologies (routing daemons such as FRR, Bird, GoBGP), ONF stack, Linux Networking (eBPF, VPP, AF_XDP), DENT, SONiC or Cumulus.Experience in network programming/automation, Infrastructure as Code, configuration management tools and data modelling (e.g., RESTCONF, NETCONF/YANG, Python, Ansible, SaltStack, Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM); with demonstrable experience of DevOps, Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.Some Other Highly Valued Skills IncludeExperience in Network and infrastructure operational product engineering and knowledge of classical network element management, SDN Controllers and ETSI MANO. Strong understanding of Application Layer Network Protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, TLS/SSL, DNS, DHCP).
