As the Head of Data Management, you will lead a team of Data Stewards and Data Management professionals to ensure the organisation is managing its data effectively.This role reports to the Head of Data.What you'll doLead and develop a team of 12, responsible for the stewardship and governance of data across Capital One UK, fostering an open and high‑performing cultureCreate an ecosystem where all data is discoverable, high quality and easy to use, in support of data‑driven decision making across the organisationDevelop comprehensive data quality frameworks with clear metrics and success criteriaUnderstand and drive adherence to regulatory and enterprise policy requirementsDemonstrate strong data risk awareness, and work with accountable executives and the data protection officer to ensure risks are managed appropriatelyDevelop and own a compelling data‑management strategy that articulates the benefits of governance across the organisationInfluence senior leadership and teams across the organisation to ensure data‑management accountabilities are understood and executed effectivelyOversee the end‑to‑end data lifecycle, from ingestion to archiving, ensuring data is managed effectively throughout its lifecycleDevelop deep relationships with enterprise partners to ensure UK‑specific requirements are understood and considered in broader enterprise changePromote and champion data‑driven decisions across all areas of the organisationWhat we're looking forYou are an accomplished leader with a passion for data management and you have experience in implementing data‑management transformations, and a strong working understanding of policies and data regulation. You’ll create an environment of challenge and support for your team, and have a track record of curating a compelling strategy for your team and the business to adopt.Candidates will have the following:Networking and Influence: Collaboration with senior leaders across the UK business. Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt and communicate compellingly and with authenticity to any audience. Ability to build strong relationships internally and across our broader enterprise.Results Orientation: Quickly and accurately assess the data‑management landscape, work with risk officers and product teams to develop the roadmap of improvements that will enable long‑term data‑management compliance of our data.Strong technical skills: Experience developing technical data‑management solutions, and the ability to quickly understand the data ecosystem to support pertinent strategic thinking.People Leadership: Track record of developing a high‑performing team of technical data‑management professionals. Ability to craft and communicate your vision for the team, and experience coaching and mentoring top talent to achieve its potential. Desire to lead, inspire, empower and develop a diverse group of associates.Job & Industry Specific KnowledgeExperience in data stewardship, governance and lifecycle managementA strong understanding of applicable policies and regulation (e.g., GDPR)Deep understanding of data applications and ability to solve complex data issues through effective solutionsExperience with database management, data modelling and data quality processesTechnical knowledge required: cloud data products, SQL, PythonFinancial services or technology company experienceWhere and how you'll workThis is a permanent position based in our Nottingham office. We have a hybrid working model which gives you flexibility to work from our offices and from home. You will be based in our Nottingham office 3 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
