SEN Teaching Assistant – 2:1 Support (Exeter) We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide 2:1 support for a young person in care, based at one of our schools in Exeter. About the Student Diagnosis: Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) Learning Level: Working at approximately Key Stage 1-2, though of Key Stage 5 age Needs: Support with communication, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning Behaviour: May display some complex behaviours, including hitting, throwing, and stripping – a calm, consistent, and understanding approach is essential Interests: Enjoys life skills activities such as community trips, shopping, and other practical, real-world experiences Role Overview The successful candidate will: Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to provide consistent, structured support Promote independence and life skills development Implement positive behaviour support strategies Help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment Support learning both in school and in community-based settings Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who: Has experience supporting young people with autism and complex behaviours Is confident using de-escalation and positive behaviour management techniques Is patient, empathetic, and resilient Can build trusting, supportive relationships with young people Works effectively as part of a wider team #J-18808-Ljbffr
