Occupational Health Technician

Occupational Health Technician Contract: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours per week) Salary: £26,325 per annum. Overtime up to £33K per annum (average 8–9 hrs per week). Location: Guildford/Dorking, England. Medigold Health is seeking a Mobile Occupational Health Technician to deliver high‑quality health surveillance services to our clients across the Guildford/Dorking area. We welcome candidates with degrees in Sports Science or a related field, as well as those with transferable skills such as experienced EMTs or individuals with a nursing background. Full training will be provided. In this role you will promote workplace health and wellbeing, conduct health assessments and ensure our clients receive professional and reliable Occupational Health support. You will carry out health surveillance, drug and alcohol testing, venepuncture, and vaccinations (if trained). You will also manage equipment, vehicle logistics, and administrative tasks to keep everything running smoothly. Main Objectives Deliver a competent professional and high quality mobile and static health surveillance service to all clients contracting services from Medigold. Undertake health promotion activities as required. Promote the business of Medigold Occupational Health Consultancy Ltd and act as its representative. Specific Responsibilities Undertake health surveillance/health promotion activities as required. Prepare mobile vehicle including vehicle, equipment, stocks and supplies. Prepare all paperwork, files and associated forms. Ensure that adequate stocks and supplies are kept, ordered and distributed as required. Check all equipment including ensuring calibration checks, PAT Testing and location and logistics logs are maintained. Maintain cleanliness of all equipment and mobile vehicles to a high standard. Complete all required forms, databases, logs as directed. Maintain a record of mileage and petrol usage. Maintain accurate records of all expenses incurred. Complete surveillance data and triage for escalation to OHP. Maintain and ensure competence in use of all equipment used and testing required. Contribute to the development of policies, procedures and safe systems of work. Be geographically aware and plan routes, liaising with the Health Surveillance Manager regarding logistics. Ensure adequate fuel in vehicles at all times. Comply with the Medigold Data Protection policy at all times. Undertake administration duties as required. Identify improvements/enhancements to the service where necessary. Maintain personal and professional development, participate in and provide training as required, highlighting any area where further training is required. Undertake drug and alcohol testing. Undertake venepuncture as required and process samples in accordance with guidance. Administer vaccinations as required (Trained Nurses only). Undertake office based duties when not required to travel. Attend in‑house Clinical Audit days and departmental meetings. Requirements for this role Degree in Sports Science or a related field (full training provided). Training candidates with transferable skills such as experienced EMTs or those with a nursing background will also be considered. Full clean driver’s licence, able to drive and park a mobile unit at home. General Nursing qualification or evidence of OH technician training/experience is desirable. Flexibility to travel all over the UK including overnight stays when necessary. Employment subject to DBS check and right to work in the UK. Additional Information Mobile units are 3.5 tons; a special licence is not required. All MU drivers will receive driver familiarisation training. All drivers must undergo a Drivers Medical. Hotel and meal allowances are paid for overnight stays. Start and finish times depend on client needs and may include early, usual, late starts and some shift work between 11 pm and 6 am paid at a higher rate. Core hours are 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours × 5 days per week). Overtime is usually made up of travel time to and from sites and paid at a higher rate.
