Senior Research Nurse

Senior Research Registered Nurse NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday, predominantly 08:30‑16:30. This is a fixed‑term post for 24 months and requires a live NMC pin. Please be advised that, effective 1 April 2026, the full‑time working hours for all Agenda for Change posts will be reduced to 36 hours. Glasgow Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is recruiting a Senior Research Registered Nurse to assist us in providing high‑quality nursing care for mental health research. CRF’s satellite units (Royal Alexandra Hospital, Gartnavel General Hospital, Dental Hospital) provide a streamlined service for investigators to conduct their clinical research efficiently and safely. In 2023 a new £42.7 million investment into mental health research was announced by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and the Office for Life Sciences (OLS) to deliver the Mission – increasing research capacity and capability in mental health throughout the UK. The Mood Disorders workstream focuses on the development of a network of dedicated clinics. Glasgow was awarded £775 000 to support the Glasgow Mood Disorders Research Clinic, providing funding for a research nurse to support its operation. As a registered nurse, you will be trained and supported to coordinate the recruitment, treatment, education, monitoring and follow‑up of research participants and to collect and document accurate study data. You will work collaboratively with Principal and Chief Investigators and the wider multi‑disciplinary team in managing your own caseload of research patients. The post holder will be expected to work across the NHSGGC area. Clinical Research Facility nurse cover is from 08:00‑17:00, Monday to Friday, with a requirement to take a flexible approach to meet the needs of research studies, including unsocial hours and weekends as necessary. Driving licence is desirable. The ability to travel between all sites within NHS GGC is also essential.
