The shift pattern for this post are Monday to Friday predominantly the hours are 0830-1630 This is a Fixed term post for 24 months This post requires a live NMC pin. Please be advised that, effective 1 April 2026, the full-time working hours for all Agenda for Change posts will be reduced to 36 hours. The Glasgow Clinical Research Facility incorporates Clinical Research Facilities at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital / Royal Hospital for Children and Glasgow Royal Infirmary. With satellite units at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Gartnavel General Hospital and the Dental Hospital. Jointly they provide a streamlined service for investigators to conduct their clinical research efficiently and safely. Glasgow Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is recruiting a Senior Research Registered Nurse to assist us in providing high quality nursing care for mental health Research In 2023 a new £42.7 million investment into mental health research was announced by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and the Office for Life Sciences (OLS) to deliver the Mission. The focus of the Mission is to increase research capacity and capability in mental health throughout the UK. The Mission consists of two demonstrator sites (in Liverpool and Birmingham) and five workstreams (Capacity Development, Mood Disorders, Early Psychosis, Data and Digital, and Children and Young People). The Mood Disorders workstream focuses on the development of a network of dedicated clinics able to enhance the ability to recruit and support patients taking part in research. Glasgow was awarded £775,000 through its successful application to join the network of Mood Disorders Research Clinics. This investment provides funding for a research nurse to support the development and operation of Glasgow’s Mood Disorders Research Clinic (Clinic). This Clinic will bring with it significant advantages for the identification of and recruitment of patients suitable for a wide range of mood disorders studies. In turn, this will strengthen the board’s ability to attract industry led research, academic research funding and in the delivery of our research programme. We are seeking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative mental health Registered Nurse to join our team. Research experience is desirable but equivalent clinical experience in mental health environments will be accepted. You will be trained and supported to coordinate the recruitment, treatment, education, monitoring and follow up of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate study data. You will work collaboratively with Principal and Chief Investigators and the wider multi‑disciplinary team in the management of your own caseload of research patients. The postholder requires to be a Registered Nurse educated to the minimum degree level or equivalent clinical experience. Able to demonstrate specialist knowledge and application of mental health nursing care which must include risk assessment / risk management as well as facilitating, coordinating and delivering wellness and recovery for people with complex needs. Demonstrable project management skills including attention to detail, excellent organisational and time management skills / ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload across different research studies to meet project timelines. Excellent communication skills, working knowledge of IT systems and IT skills. Evidence of being able to apply a methodical approach are also key requirements, along with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. The post holder will be expected to work across the NHSGGC area. The Clinical Research Facility has Research Nurse cover from 0800-1700 Monday to Friday predominantly the hours are 0830-1630 but there is a requirement to take a flexible approach in order to meet the needs of research studies, with a requirement to work unsocial hours and weekends as necessary. The ability to travel between all sites within NHS GGC is also essential. Driving licence is desirable. Minimal Requirements Registered Mental Health Nurse, educated to degree level (or working towards) First level degree with evidence of continuing personal development. Ability to demonstrate competencies in relation to experience with evidence of clinical and technical skills including venepuncture, ILS , Drug administration Significant, current and relevant clinical experience in mental health Ability to prioritise own and staff workload to achieve agreed timelines, quality standards and targets. Experience of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team Motivated and able to demonstrate excellent team management skills Ability to learn new skills to meet requirements of new research projects Desirable Experience of working in both academic and commercial research Knowledge of current research regulations and governance requirements Details on how to contact the Recruitment Service and the Recruitment Process : This post may close early to the volume of response.
