University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust Band 6 Senior Dietitian - Stroke & HCOP The closing date is 02 December 2025 We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Senior Band 6 Dietitian post within the stroke and older people dietetic team based on Heartlands Hospital site, with some cross cover to Good Hope site. We have a large, well‑established and specialist dietetic service. If you are a motivated and enthusiastic Dietitian who would be interested in developing your dietetic expertise and joining a friendly and dedicated stroke and older people dietetic team, then this is the job for you This role will involve working closely with Band 7 Dietetic Team Leads, to provide specialist dietetic care to a varied patient caseload of inpatients, with specialist input to the stroke and older people services. This band 6 Dietitian role would be involved in providing support and training and developing the Band 4 support worker roles. The stroke and older people dietetic team are integral to the speciality multi‑disciplinary teams. You will be expected to build collaborative working relationships with medical, nursing and therapy colleagues in the speciality. Main duties of the job Provide a professional nutrition and dietetic service to specified wards and clinics within the Trust Line manage other junior team members Work closely with the dietetic leads/specialist Dietitians at UHB to continue to develop the dietetic service Contribute to the training of student dietitians on clinical placements To promote the Dietetic profession both within the Trust and to prospective dietetic students Be a key member of the multidisciplinary team The post is based cross site covering Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospital; however, as the Trust is a multi‑site organisation you may be required to work at any of the Trust sites and you may need to change your normal place of work, either temporarily or on a permanent basis, as a result of development or reorganisation of Trust services. Person Specification Qualifications Dietitian with qualification in Nutrition & Dietetics (BSc, PG diploma or MSc) Registration as Dietitian with Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) Good level of written or spoken English Evidence of CPD Member of British Dietetic Association (BDA) Member of relevant specialist interest groups (BDA or other) Experience Post‑graduate experience relevant to post Experience of working as part of multidisciplinary team and Dietetic team. Demonstrates interest/enthusiasm in relevant clinical areas Good understanding of all types of intervention for nutrition support In depth knowledge of relevant clinical area Evidence of completing clinical audit and/or research Additional Criteria In depth knowledge of relevant clinical area Evidence of completing clinical audit and/or research Good communication skills both written and oral Ability to work through interpreters and use visual aids Able to use a range of communication skills including motivational interviewing, counselling skills, negotiating skills and cognitive behavioural therapy; to help patients achieve their nutritional goals Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Good time management and prioritisation skills that will allow you to manage your own work load Ability to form good working relationships Good presentation skills and teaching skills with evidence of presentations to groups Able to plan, deliver and report on a clinical audit and other relevant projects Able to work in line with HCPC standards and BDA code of conduct Reliable, conscientious and flexible Team player Ability to work flexibly as per the requirements of the post Able to meet the travel requirements of the post i.e. off‑site travel e.g. for home visits or frequent travel between sites where required for the role Enthusiasm and commitment to train student dietitians and others Commitment to CPD Enthusiasm and motivation to work at UHB Demonstrates the Trust values of Kind, Connected & Bold Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
