Electricity Distribution - Network Planner We are currently recruiting for three Grade 5 Network Planner positions at our Stoke and Hednesford depots – two permanent and one temporary for up to 12 months (subject to review). Planners design our network and work with Engineers to construct, reinforce, alter and replace our equipment. Our service pace is fast and we deliver excellent service while minimising impact. Requirements: English and Maths GCSE Grade C/Level 4 minimum, or Functional Skills Level 2 or above. Hold a Level 2 City & Guilds 2339, or equivalent. If not already attained, you will need to undertake Level 3 City & Guilds 2339. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment. Responsibilities After training, you’ll be hands‑on responsible for project design, costing and quoting, and the replacement/diversion/reinforcement of existing electricity network assets. Use your expertise to determine whether the supply chain can handle new electrics in the area. Plan, prepare and deliver new services, alterations and small capital projects. Design schemes that align with Engineering Directives and take into account voltage drops. Prepare quotations and Connection Agreements for LV connection‑related works. Access, remove or avoid site risks. Ideal Candidate Either you already have low‑voltage experience as an electrician or a Grade 4 Network Planner, or you are ready to learn. You must understand our customers – small businesses, local authorities or house builders. Strong communication skills are key for coordinating jobs and explaining issues simply. You’ll be in control of your diary, so resilience, organisation and prioritisation are essential. Team players and experience using iPads and computers are a must. We provide the required training. You must be mobile throughout the area, with a valid UK driving licence. We may initially appoint you at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete. You may not possess all the skills required at present but must be confident and able to reach the necessary standards with appropriate training. National Grid offers no sponsorship under the UK points‑based immigration system. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship. All applications are welcome from candidates meeting these requirements, regardless of race, nationality or ethnic origin. National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the Company, colleagues and customers. This role is subject to a satisfactory Barring Service (DBS) check, depending on the role. Some roles require a triannual check.
