OverviewAn opportunity has arisen to lead the TB services at St Georges Hospital, a tertiary TB centre in South‑West London. You will work as part of a multi‑professional team to ensure that patients with mycobacterial infection receive a high standard of care from initial investigations to treatment completion. The role is integral to the prevention and detection of TB in South‑West London, as part of national and global strategies to reduce TB infection.Team and ServicesThe specialist nursing team consists of specialist nurses, an outreach worker and an administrator, delivering several services for TB patients; nurse‑led clinics for patients receiving treatment for active and latent TB, screening clinics for contacts of TB (adult and paediatric), occupational health contacts, new entrant screening clinics and screening for patients prior to receiving biologic treatments.A rapid access clinic for patients with symptoms of active TB who are referred from the community or other tertiary services.Dedicated clinics for multi‑drug‑resistant TB and NTM infections.Work with inpatient teams to support the care of inpatients on TB treatment.Local TB team for HMP Wandsworth, providing specialist advice.ResponsibilitiesThe main duties of the job are to manage the TB service, supporting the TB Clinical Nurse Specialists and Outreach Worker to provide high quality care for patients at all stages of their TB journey. You will identify service development needs, support education and awareness‑raising on TB within the trust and the community, and contribute to service development through audit.ContextSt George’s Hospital in Tooting is one of the country’s principal teaching hospitals with more than 9,000 staff. It has strong links with local populations and national recognition for research and innovation.
