To provide specialist respiratory assessment, diagnosis, treatment and care to a range of patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions. The post links closely with SGH acute assessment areas, emergency department, respiratory nurses and chest clinics based at SGH and QMH. As well as linking with SWLCCG, GPs, community MDT teams and other partners such as Oxygen providers. St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC). After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce. The post-holder should provide a high-quality service to all respiratory patients within St George’s Hospital. The respiratory clinical nurse specialist will work as part of the multi-professional team in the: Key Responsibilities Provision of out-patient nurse-led clinics for respiratory conditions, including asthma, COPD, oxygen assessment Provision of inpatient review of asthma/COPD in-patients Support development of seamless patient’s pathways, eg – Inpatient to outpatients Assessment for long term and ambulatory oxygen Provide on-going support for patients requiring domiciliary Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) Support asthma service and work alongside the severe Asthma MDT to provide care for patients with severe asthma including those requiring biologic therapy There will be an opportunity to undertake these roles within this JD but it would be to deliver care to patients requiring NIV OR Severe Asthma provision rather than staff undertaking both in the same role. In addition, the post holder will be expected to participate in the strategic development of the respiratory service by: Strategic Development Being recognised as an expert in their field holding additional specialist knowledge and experience Providing leadership in clinical practice for the professional team and peers and ensuring effective learning experience for students through provision of an educational environment Working as a competent, autonomous advanced clinical nurse specialist Actively disseminating best practice through teaching, publication and conference presentations and participating in nursing research and national working parties Key Components of the Role Expert Clinical Practice Education Research & Audit Leadership and Management This advert closes on Wednesday 19 Nov 2025. #J-18808-Ljbffr
