Senior Azure DevOps Engineer - Simulation Rolls‑Royce SMR invites applications for the Senior Azure DevOps Engineer – Simulation role. Location: Hybrid working with a primary site of Derby, Manchester or Warrington. Salary: £48,000‑£63,000 DOE (DOE means based on experience). About the Role Reporting to the Simulation Development Manager, you will support the development, validation and verification of software simulation models for nuclear power plant and C&I systems. Your primary focus will be implementing and maintaining Azure DevOps pipelines and environments to enable the automation of build, test, deliver and quality assurance activities. You will also help integrate simulation models into the overall architecture and add CI/CD processes for software QA. Key Responsibilities Design and manage CI/CD pipelines: Create and maintain automated build, test, and deployment processes using Azure Pipelines for simulator software. Ensure security and compliance: Integrate security best practices and compliance policies into the DevOps processes and maintain export control policies, including Cyber Essentials Plus. Manage source code: Enforce version control strategies for multiple simulator software workstreams using Git and Azure Repos. Monitor and optimise systems: Set up monitoring, logging and alerting with Azure Monitor and Application Insights to ensure performance, reliability and security. Promote an agile DevOps culture: Work closely with simulation developers and plant performance analysts to streamline collaboration and improve the software delivery process. Troubleshoot and resolve issues: Identify, debug and resolve technical issues related to the application, infrastructure and deployment pipelines. Key Selection Criteria Experience in an Agile development environment covering the full software development lifecycle. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services (App Services, VMs, Azure SQL, Active Directory) and cloud-based architectures. Proficiency in scripting and automation using YAML, PowerShell, Bash, .NET, Java and Python. Expertise in CI/CD tools, particularly Azure DevOps; Jenkins experience is an advantage. Solid understanding of Git version control and configuration management. Experience in software verification, validation and QA in high-integrity industries; knowledge of nuclear QA standards is advantageous. Hands‑on experience in dynamic modelling and simulation (e.g., Matlab, Simulink) and applying simulation for analysis; control systems design knowledge is beneficial. Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Computational Science with proven experience in software development and Azure.
