Overview The Decontamination Team member will support the process of endoscope decontamination for all flexible endoscopes used in the hospital’s departments. The role operates on a rotational seven‑day service, covering weekdays, bank holidays, evenings, and weekends, under the direction of the Unit Manager, Assistant Manager, Team Lead or Supervisors. This is not a patient‑facing role. Key Responsibilities Assist with manual cleaning and processing of all types of endoscopes. Follow local and national guidelines, standards and policies for endoscope decontamination. Maintain a working knowledge of all endoscope types and their clinical use. Operate automated endoscope washer‑disinfectors and complete manufacturer training. Provide clerical support to ensure the efficient running of the department. Communicate effectively, both verbally and non‑verbally, within the team. Qualifications & Skills Knowledge of endoscope design, construction and maintenance. Ability to demonstrate understanding of decontamination principles. Strong verbal and non‑verbal communication skills. Commitment to safety, quality and training.
