If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from youWe’re looking for an Associate Underwriting MI Analyst to join our Underwriting & Assurance team in our Haywards Heath, West Sussex office.The Underwriting & Assurance Team are tasked with using analytics and insight to drive the ongoing optimisation of the 1st Central Group underwriting footprint, and the monitoring of underwriting performance, to support the delivery of profit and volume targets for the business.In this role you’ll work within a small team to create and disseminate high quality Management Information and Performance reports to the Underwriting pillar and wider business.We’re all about people and we’re passionate about continuous improvement, so you’ll share your thoughts with the team to continually progress our methods and team knowledge.Core skills we’re looking for to succeed in the role:A degree in a relevant Numerical subjectStrong analytical skillsExperience using Power BI or a similar Data Visualisation platformData modelling experience, with ability to create and present reportsWhat’s involved:Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Underwriting Performance Monitoring Suite of MI reports, through creation of new Underwriting reports and enhancing existing reporting functionality.Produce and publish BAU reports to agreed regular refresh schedule to ensure timely business decision making.Produce ad-hoc performance monitoring analysis to answer specific business challenges or surface issues/opportunities for action within team or wider pillar.Create and maintain reporting and underlying data models using tools such as Power BI, Databricks, SAS, SQLEnsure reporting requirements are clearly captured from business stakeholders (both within team and across wider business)Maintain MI best practice, including change control process, and adhere to high quality coding standards and documentation.Ensure Underwriting Management Information is produced with a level of quality to enable accurate business decision making.Comply with the requirements, and act in accordance with, the Group Code of Conduct and Fitness and Propriety policies at all timesEnsure compliance with Company Policies, Values and guidelines and other relevant standards/ regulations at all times,Proactively own personal development – researching and learning about new tools, techniques, and data sources which may benefit the team, under the guidance of the Underwriting MI ManagerAny other reasonable dutiesExperience & knowledgeExperience in use of data visualisation tools such as PowerBIKnowledge of DAX and Power Query (M) desirableExperience with analytical programming languages and packages, such as Databricks, SAS, SQLUnderstanding of data analysis principlesKnowledge of personal lines general insurance preferredMinimum 2:1 in a numerical undergraduate disciplineStrong mathematical skillsGood time management and organisationStrong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to adopt a logical approach to solving problemsData and statistical analysis skills preferredStrong IT skills (including ideally Excel, programming and data visualisation skills)Good communication skills, both verbal and writtenLogical thinker with solid reasoning abilityEmphasis on attention to detail and accuracyQuick learnerBehavioursAligned to the values of Ambition; Agility; Ownership; CollaborationSelf-motivated and enthusiasticAn organised and proactive approachAbility to work on own initiative and as part of a teamA flexible approach and positive attitudeStrives to drive business improvements to contribute to the success of the businessIf you’d like to work for an award-winning employer in a fast-paced environment, apply nowPeople first.
