Specialist Doctor – Stroke / Medicine Full-time substantive post at Furness General Hospital, part of the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. Job Summary A highly motivated, ambitious, dynamic individual will join our multidisciplinary team to provide high‑standard care to the local community. The post supports continued development of the Stroke Service and may progress to Clinical Lead. Location Furness General Hospital, Dalton Lane, Barrow‑In‑Furness, LA14 4LF. Salary £100,870 to £111,441 per annum. Contract Permanent, full-time. Days Posted 20 November 2025. Responsibilities Provide clinical leadership to Stroke Team; act as senior decision‑making doctor on Stroke On‑Call rota. Deliver acute thrombolysis, thrombectomy collaboration with Royal Preston Hospital, and Telestroke On‑Call services. Contribute to meeting emergency access targets, quality standards, and clinical governance responsibilities such as audits. Communicate with GPs, multidisciplinary team members, and national networks. Mentor and supervise junior medical staff and medical students. Participate in SSNAP scoring and quality improvement programmes. Qualifications Full registration with the General Medical Council (MRCP or equivalent). Minimum of 6 years sub‑specialty training in Stroke medicine. Master of Science in Geriatric medicine (or equivalent). Experience Broad exposure to medical diseases and their management. Comprehensive patient management skills. Minimum 12 years of medical work experience. Essential Skills Excellent communication with GPs and multidisciplinary team.
