Financial Lines Development Underwriter – Markel InternationalWe are investing in Development Underwriters to support our broker network across the North West and South / South East regions. The role involves building and maintaining strong broker relationships, underwriting complex Professional and Management risks, and contributing to our growth plans.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain a high level of underwriting competence and achieve profitability objectives.Underwrite complex new business within defined authority, targeting agreed financial goals.Provide efficient new business service to brokers, maintaining strong relationships.Develop new broker relationships and collaborate with the Broker Development Director.Deliver quarterly updates to the Head of Financial Lines and Broker Development Director.Maintain broker data on the CRM system.Identify and secure prospects within your broker panel, complying with CRM Working Practices.Promote a coaching and mentoring culture within the team.Support team members’ technical knowledge through underwriting referrals.Collaborate with internal partners to deliver outcomes for brokers and clients.Required Skills & ExperienceProven underwriting experience with technical proficiency.Track record in developing broker relationships.Background in Professional Indemnity, Directors & Officers preferred.Excellent communication skills.IT skills: MS Office, PowerPoint, CRM; willingness to learn.Ability to win business while maintaining underwriting standards.BenefitsCompetitive salary with annual bonus, car allowance, and strong benefits package.25 days paid holiday plus bank holidays, with option to buy/sell extra leave.Company pension scheme, private medical and dental cover, life assurance, travel insurance, income protection, season ticket loan, and more.Opportunities to learn new skills and advance your career.Seniority levelMid‑Senior levelEmployment typeFull‑timeJob functionFinance and Sales; Industry: InsuranceEqual Opportunity EmployerMarkel celebrates a diverse workforce.
