Assistant Underwriter - Financial Lines

We are a socially responsible company and give our customers the ability to invest a portion of their premiums in environmentally and socially beneficial projects.Due to consistent growth we have a newly created role for an Assistant Underwriter to join our Financial Lines team. Underwriting business on an International scale across the Lloyd’s and company market, our Financial Lines portfolio includes PI, D&O, FI, Cyber, Life Sciences and Medical Malpractice. In this role you will partner closely with individual underwriting teams, gaining exposure across all products within our portfolio to develop your experience within preferred product lines whilst supporting the overall book’s trajectory. This progressive role will work towards assuming underwriting authority and presents a great opportunity to cement your career as a Financial Lines Underwriter within the London Insurance Market.

**Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to**:

- Follow the annual business plan for the portfolio and its context to be able to make decisions appropriately
- Contribute, as required, to the planning process through research and project work
- Participate in meetings, as required, to support the development of strategy, share knowledge and best practice
- Perform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met
- Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimize risk and maximize efficiency
- Contribute to the recording and measurement of insurance risks to ensure accuracy and good practice
- Maintain relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues, to increase exposure in the market.
- Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and delegated underwriting authority to meet business objectives, referring as required, including:

- negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business
- ensuring production and issue of contract certainty documentation (non Lloyd’s)
- ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines
- contributing to the business plan and objectives
- support credit control in payment collection

**You will need to be able to display you have the following qualifications and experience**:

- Previous experience working within Financial Lines products, whether in an Underwriting or Broking environment
- Intermediate level of understanding of relevant software including Excel and other departmental software packages
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to produce detailed reports at various levels
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to identify, manipulate and analysis existing data.
