The role of Shop Manager is empowered, varied and busy, giving the opportunity to work with a dedicated volunteer team. Often the only paid staff member, the manager is comfortable in this environment, enjoys working with people and is excellent at delegating, motivating and communicating. Key Responsibilities Motivate your team and create a safe, energised work environment. Maintain commercial awareness and identify new business opportunities. Manage time effectively under conflicting priorities. Build, retain and develop a volunteer team. Ensure the shop runs smoothly and meets its sales targets. Open the shop on occasional Sunday work. Key Skills & Competencies Significant leadership qualities and experience. Strong drive to achieve results through others. Ability to build, retain and develop a team. Ability to delegate, coach and listen. Enjoys working with people and has a friendly, approachable manner. Ability to manage time under conflicting priorities. Demonstrates resilience to everyday pressures. Excellent communication skills. High motivation, enthusiasm and a sense of fun. Open and adaptable to change. Commercial awareness and judgement. Ability to establish and maintain successful retail processes and merchandising. Ability to understand and interpret basic financial reports. IT literacy and numeracy skills (email, spreadsheets, word processing). Eager to adhere to Oxfam’s principles and values, fostering diversity, gender equality and child safety.
