Participation in improvement initiatives is positively encouraged with opportunity to access training to support improvement work.Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesThe accurate coding of prime documents including the authorisation and completion of expenditure journals and budget journals.Authorise and ensure all budget adjustments required are accurately calculated recorded and actioned.The authenticity and accuracy of all expenditure transactions. This requires knowledge of payroll and accounts payable systems. Incorrect payments have to be identified and resolved.The authenticity and accuracy of all expenditure accruals and recharges, both internal and external.Ensure that debtor invoices are raised for income due.Carry out the reconciliation of the establishments between the Finance ledger system, the Electronic Staff Record System (ESR) and Rostering System (Allocate).Design, develop and interrogate complex spreadsheets and databases including modelling and analysis of financial data.Interrogate and analyse various computer systems / software packages to produce financial information and reports. This will include the day to day responsibility for specific computer systems.Responsible for the distribution of all relevant month end budget statements and associated information to budget holders in line with the set timetable.Ensure that the integrity of the coding structure in the financial ledger is maintained at all times, and that revised summary reporting hierarchies are developed as required in response to organisational change .To participate in the Annual Budget Setting exercise with specific responsibility for designated Divisions. Supervise support staff in line with Trust guidelines. Have joint responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the data used during the annual budget setting process.As and when required apply forecasting techniques based on current and past trends. This will be to the Head of Financial Management and Divisional Finance Managers.Assist the Head of Financial Management with the monitoring and analysis of key areas of financial performance across the whole Trust. This will include graphical analysis of expenditure such as bank and agency nursing.Assist the Head of Financial Management with the section’s contribution to the Trust’s Annual Accounts and Returns. This involves NHS year end balances, and income and expenditure analysis.Keep up to date with VAT guidance and ensure VAT is reclaimed through correct coding .Ensure that all information and returns are produced in line with the Trust’s Standing Orders & Standing Financial InstructionsAssist the Head of Financial Management in working with the Trust’s Internal and External Auditors as and when required.Resolve financial queries, by using own judgement and interpretation skills, and feedback to the Divisional Finance Manager.Report to the Divisional Finance Manager upon the monthly performance of budgets highlighting any significant movements.Provide financial analysis through spreadsheets, databases and the ledger report writer to meet the needs of the Divisional Finance ManagersWork closely with the Divisional Finance Manager in the annual budget setting process. To lead in the re‑calculation and analysis of designated budgets within the department guidelinesFrequently carry out non routine management accounting tasks. These will include such tasks as the costing of skill mix reviews, service development proposals and efficiency schemes Support the Divisional Finance Managers in pressure costing, the development of financial plans and the impact of payment by results reporting.QualificationsAAT Member / Degree / CCABIT SkillsExtensive experience in using all Microsoft office programmes.Able to use Microsoft Excel to an advanced levelExperience of using finance ledger and other reporting systemsDesirable skillsSQLPower BIExperianceExperience of working within a finance departmentMust be familiar with a wide range of finance proceduresDesirable experianceExperience of working in a Management accounts departmentExperience of training othersCommunicationProven ability to communicate with confidence with people of all different levels and backgroundsDesirable communicationExperience of communicating financial matters with non‑finance professionals #J-18808-Ljbffr
