Job summary Senior Clinical Fellow 9 Month maternity cover – end date 30.06.25. Expertise in core urology surgery would be essential. Candidates will be expected to perform flexible cystoscopy, JJ stent insertion and inguinal‑scrotal surgery without supervision. Responsibilities Commitment to core urology including outpatient clinics, main theatre and day surgery operating lists, flexible cystoscopy lists and trans‑rectal prostate biopsy lists. Attendance at the weekly oncology MDT meeting and bi‑monthly continence MDT. Large workload in general (core) urology work: TURBT, TURP, inguinal‑scrotal surgery, management of stone disease (flexible ureteroscopy and laser stone treatment), benign prostate disease (bipolar TURP, Rezum, Urolift) and improvement of bladder cancer diagnosis and treatment. Management of urinary continence service with intravesical botox injection and PTNS with dedicated specialist continence and urodynamic nurses. Participation in audit and delivery of innovative ways of patient care. On‑call The urologists work a 1:8 rota with prospective cover. On‑call duties cover in‑patients at both sites and A & E at QEH site only (UHL A & E still covered by GSTT). Teaching Regular morbidity and mortality meetings are attended by all department members. The post‑holder will participate in teaching medical students, foundation doctors and core surgical and specialist trainees. Making equality mainstream. Qualifications – Essential MBBS or equivalent medical qualification. ATLS Course. ALS Certificate. Qualifications – Desirable FRCS Intercollegiate or equivalent. Experience and Knowledge – Essential Evidence of achievement of ST3 competences in Urology at the time of appointment, supported by work‑based assessments (DOPS, Mini‑CEX, CBD, ACAT) and multisource feedback. Experience in flexible cystoscopy, prostate TRUS biopsy and inguinal‑scrotal surgery. Ability to demonstrate successful participation in audit. Flexibility and teamwork. Experience and Knowledge – Desirable Interest in developing innovative ways of delivering patient care. Eligibility – Essential Eligible for full registration with the GMC at the time of appointment. Eligibility to work in the UK. Evidence of achievement of Foundation competences in line with GMC standards and Good Medical Practice, covering clinical care, patient communication, collegial relationships, cultural respect, classroom teaching and acute critical care. Fitness to Practice – Essential Up to date and fit to practice safely. Language Skills – Essential Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English adequate for medical communication, evidenced by: (a) completion of undergraduate medical training in English, or (b) IELTS overall score 7.5 with sub‑scores of at least 7.0.
