Communications & Navigation Systems Engineer Our client, a leading defence organisation, urgently requires an experienced End to End Communications & Navigation Systems Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis. Base pay range is discussed with the recruiter. Overview This role involves supporting the development of end-to-end communications and navigation systems for space applications, including architecture definition, system-level design, verification and acceptance across space, ground, and user segments. Responsibilities Support the development of new applications for space technologies, specifically supporting Communications and Navigation Services. Assess and define architectures for end-to-end communications and navigation systems, contributing to the design of functions and techniques from the physical layer up to the application layer. Assess end-to-end system design and performance in real and simulated scenarios, including performance budgets, link budgets, data flow analysis, capacity and volume assessment, and interaction between link layers; assess related encryption and authentication functions. Support projects across all phases, following up industrial activities related to end-to-end communications and navigation systems on space, ground or user segments, including system-level design, trade-offs, architecture design, system development, verification and acceptance. Participate in the preparation of relevant standards and their implementation considerations (ECSS, CCSDS) and perform the associated technical support; apply and tailor standards as needed. Contribute to defining the Agency's R&D activities for long- and short-term needs, addressing concepts and techniques related to End-to-End System Communications and Navigation. Participate in mission studies, project reviews, and support procurement proposals. Qualifications Experience in communications and/or navigation systems engineering within the Space domain. Solid experience and expertise with systems engineering from space applications such as communications, navigation, earth observation, or exploration. Ideally a Master’s degree or PhD in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering. Ability to obtain SC Cleared.
