The current post is created to tackle the increasing demand from obstetrics and gynaecology service and to ensure safe obstetrics care. The Obstetrics and Gynaecology service is offered across two main sites; Diana Princess of Wales Hospital and Scunthorpe General hospital. The Diana Princess of Wales Hospital covers antenatal clinics, gynaecology clinics, ambulatory, colposcopy clinics and theatre sessions. We provide level 2 neonatal care. The maternity unit, neonatal, NICU and administrative offices are all located within the Acorn suite. Gynaecology assessment unit (24/7) with in patient facility for Gynaecology, is provided at SDEC (Same day emergency care) and IAAU (integrated acute assessment unit). In 2023/24 there were 2,121 deliveries in the maternity unit. The maternity provides LDRP (labour, delivery, recovery and postnatal) model of maternity care. There is consultant anaesthetist cover during working hours and a 24-hour epidural service is in operation. A robust midwifery team support the maternity service providing services in a hospital setting. There are advanced nurse practitioners and advanced midwifery practitioners incorporating in the medical rota. DPOW obstetrics and gynaecology training have been rated one of the highest in England at the national training survey in the last 2 years. We provide 60 hours on site consultant present at both acute sites. Main duties of the job As a senior employee of the Trust the post-holder will work in close co-operation with, and support, other clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trust's patients. The opportunity exists to work in a non-hierarchical setting and offer a wide range of Obstetrics & Gynaecology procedures in this busy DGH The appointee must be fully registered with the General Medical Council with a License to Practice. The appointee will: Develop a one-stop Gynaecology clinic Lead the development of the colposcopy service Provide Labour and emergency cover daytime as well as out of hours at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital. Should not be on duty for labour ward whilst being timetabled for gynaecology clinic or antenatal clinic, private practice or covering another site. If required by operational pressure or service changes, pick up sessions at the Scunthorpe or Goole District General Hospital or Hull Royal Infirmary Provide a general gynaecology and obstetrics services comprising outpatient clinics, ambulatory and theatre. Person Specification Education and Qualifictions MBBS or equivalent medical qualification MRCOG or equivalent Advanced Labour Ward Capabilities Experience in management of pre-term birth prevention ATSM in Operative Colposcopy Acute gynaecology ATSM Diploma in ultrasound scanning ATSM in Operative Hysteroscopy Occupational Experience and Abilities Completion of CCT Ability to demonstrate effective communication with patients and ensure patient-tailored plans are made Ability to work effectively within a team and demonstrate experience of this Demonstrate effective leadership skills Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
