Medical Education Manager The closing date is 10 December 2025 The MEM will be responsible for day‑to‑day operations within the Medical Education Department with regard to a designated care group(s), providing guidance, direction and support in relation to both undergraduate and postgraduate education and training in that/those groups. The post is responsible for the medical education management reporting and for the performance and quality and governance of the education we deliver within the designated care group(s). The role would suit a motivated and adaptable individual able to work with our Senior Leadership Team (SLT), our wider Medical Education Team and other Departments across the Trust. As a manager, problem‑solver and implementer, post‑holder will work to deliver all quality assurance and governance, strategic, financial and operational activities within their own portfolio and across the Department and will ensure streamlined activities based on the priorities of the Director of Medical Education and the Medical Education Strategy. It is essential that the post‑holder is a proactive communicator and relationship builder who will work towards achieving the Medical Education’s Department's goal of collaborative and fruitful integration with our clinical care groups in order to make East Kent the educational provider of choice in our region. Main duties of the job Responsibility for the support of medical education services across the care group(s); this includes the provision of a comprehensive service, responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of professional teaching activities, training programmes, continuing professional development, induction and skills training for medical students and junior doctors. Provide specialist knowledge and guidance on medical education related matters. Ensure and deliver data collection and reporting processes which are necessary for quality control and training service development. Develop strong and effective, collaborative relationships with the other Medical Education Managers. Develop networks with all stakeholders and partners across the Trust. Support a broad range of training programmes and complex educational activities, including identification of training opportunities and co‑ordination of projects. Work to maximise the sustainability of the department. Work with clinical leadership teams to ensure effective joint working to deliver against education action plans and care group service delivery plans. Provide appropriate reports for the care group(s) leadership teams, for the care group boards, business and quality meetings, local faculty groups and performance reviews. Undertake all operational, financial, budgeting, marketing, procurement and staff management activities necessary. Person Specification Experience 4+ years recent managerial experience, ideally, though not exclusively, within an NHS or public service environment 2+ years of line management experience Experience of quality assurance Experience of budgeting and financial planning Previous experience of working as a manager in an education environment Skills Leadership and management ability Negotiation and influencing at a senior level Project management Excellent communication skills, written and verbal using various methods and platforms to all levels of staff, external agencies and the general public Advanced digital literacy skills including the use of MS office software to a high standard Data input and extraction for reporting, creation of databases and excellent spreadsheet skills, use of digital software and website upkeep, high attention to detail and accuracy, effective planning and organisation Problem‑solver with ability to be resourceful, creative and adaptable Multitasking and ability to switch between tasks due to disruptions and distractions and an unpredictable workload Ability to work to tight deadlines and to use own initiative Creation of databases and excellent spreadsheet skills Use of digital software and website upkeep Knowledge Knowledge and understanding of quality assurance methodologies Appraisal and objective setting based on strategic aims Understanding of Health Education England’s Digital Capability Framework and its applications Medical Education or Health Professional Training Knowledge and understanding of NHS Education Contract and HEE's Quality Framework Understanding of medical career path including education and training Qualifications Degree in relevant subject / equivalent experience Other Ability to relate to all people regardless of their age, background, gender etc. Aware of and adhere to the Trust Values, Vision and Mission Flexibility and adaptability Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
