Job Profile Description As an AWS Lead Platform Engineer (Consultant), you’ll lead teams to design, automate, build, manage and optimise modern platforms. You’ll join our dedicated EDM product team as we build something that lasts, in a fast‑paced environment where you’ll be trusted to make sound, reasoned decisions. You’ll also deepen your expertise with long‑term challenges and real‑world scale. As the technical leader, you’ll interact with customers, share knowledge and mentor those around you. Your Key Responsibilities Will Include Work as part of a team – collaborate with engineering, testing, consulting, product management and security to build, test and deploy software of the highest quality, including operation and continuous improvement of underlying platform services. Leverage AWS expertise – design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure cloud architecture on AWS. Provide technical leadership – give direction and leadership for your team as you solve challenging delivery and support projects. Use technology for positive impact – ensure the latest technologies are employed appropriately and aligned with industry best practices for maximum user and business benefit. Be objectively opinionated – offer your opinion and critique to improve our solutions and proactively share knowledge internally and in the wider industry. Be a role model – support colleagues and foster a DevOps culture, embodying Kainos values, and ensuring project success. Develop people – manage, coach and develop a small number of staff, focusing on performance and career development. Minimum (Essential) Requirements Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly explain technical design to technical and non‑technical audiences. Proven experience of team leadership and supporting a DevOps culture in complex project delivery or support. Significant expertise in: AWS and Terraform – broad knowledge of constructing applications and services on AWS with Terraform. Designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring and operating modern digital service platforms in production. Using continuous delivery and automation techniques for releasing operationally ready software, including platform orchestration with configuration management tools. Demonstrable experience in: Building and/or supporting modern digital service platforms with architecture, design, estimation, planning, and iteration using agile practices. Championing Site Reliability Engineering tooling, techniques and processes to manage and improve platform services, including monitoring, modernisation and cost optimisation. Using the AWS cloud platform, including SaaS or PaaS offerings, to solve business problems. Desirable Obtained AWS SysOps Administrator, DevOps Engineer or Solutions Architect certification. Obtained Terraform Associate certification. Obtained certification in a specialised area such as Networking or Security.
