The Manager ensures that services are culturally safe, trauma-informed, and strengths-based, supporting the needs of children, youth, adults, families, and community members of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation (COTTFN). This role fosters team development through mentorship, role modeling, and coaching. It works collaboratively with other programs, departments, and clinicians to enhance client care. The Manager supports the integration of traditional healing practices, ceremonies, and cultural teachings alongside Western clinical approaches, ensuring services are wholistic, client- and family-centered, and aligned with community priorities. Responsibilities Leadership & Supervision Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, and support to the mental health team, reflecting First Nation values and cultural teachings. Support staff with clinical consultation, case reviews, and guidance on culturally safe, trauma-informed care. Provide direction to clinical and non-clinical staff, including review of client files and oversight of confidentiality and compliance. Program Oversight & Development Ensure services integrate and balance traditional healing practices (ceremony, land-based approaches, Elder involvement) with Western clinical approaches. Develop, implement, and evaluate program goals, policies, and procedures aligned with community priorities and organizational strategies. Plan and deliver culturally safe and trauma-informed interventions to support client care plans. Identify service gaps and support program innovation to meet the evolving needs of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation community. Community Relationships & Partnerships Build and maintain respectful relationships with community members, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and partner organizations. Collaborate with other departments, programs, and clinicians to ensure wraparound supports and continuity of care. Promote awareness of mental health services within the community, reducing stigma and encouraging help-seeking. Other Duties Monitor program performance and outcomes to ensure high standards of quality, safety, and cultural responsiveness. Approve and monitor program expenses in discussion with the CYFWBS Director. Participate in recruitment, interviewing, evaluation, discipline, and termination of staff according to organizational policies. Balance accountability to the organization with responsibility to community, families, and future generations. Lead planning, organizing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating culturally relevant and safe care that honours First Nations diversity, traditions, and values. Qualifications Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with First Nations in a supervisory or leadership role within health or social services. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with Elders, Traditional Healers, Knowledge Keepers, and community leaders. Knowledge of and/or experience with traditional medicines, healing practices, ceremonies, and cultural teachings. Experience in program management, including staff supervision, budgeting, reporting, and program evaluation. Valid “G” driver’s licence and insured vehicle. Clear CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Screen/Check (or ability to obtain). Hiring of Indigenous people will be given preference; please identify.
