Job Title QA Systems Salary and Hours £39,000 per annum (8-hour days, Monday - Friday) Department Quality Assurance (Plant) Reports to QA Manager, with deputy responsibilities for QA Specialist / QA support Role Purpose The QA Systems person is tasked with the maintenance of the internal audit system and the HACCP System. Investigation and resolution of customer complaints, driving improvement following identification of trends, conducting traceability exercises and mock recalls, project work on complaint reduction, completing KPI reports, managing lab samples, maintaining document control, and calibrating equipment. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities Ensure an effective internal audit programme and corrective and preventative actions: Schedule audits, and issue audit packs to relevant auditors. Review audits on completion, give feedback and risk‑assess frequency. Chase any outstanding audits, and escape if necessary. Transfer action points to the Corrective and Preventative action list. Champion root cause analysis and agree actions and timescales with relevant people. Chase outstanding non‑conformances and escalation if overdue. Ensure an effective HACCP system is in place: Attend corporate HACCP meetings. Schedule on‑site review meetings. Review the HACCP plan to meet corporate and customer requirements. Ensure timely processing and resolution of customer complaints: Log complaints. Investigate customer complaints using production history. Report findings to QA Manager/Customer QA Manager. Review complaints for trends and implement corrective and preventative actions. Communicate trends to QA & Production Manager. Hold monthly complaint reduction meetings and collate any actions into a Complaint Reduction plan. Other Responsibilities Conduct and present traceability exercises according to schedule, during audits & visits. Present the following areas to auditors/visitors: Complaints, internal audits, product recall, calibration records. Deputise QA Specialist/QA support in the daily routine concerning quality and process matters. Conduct investigations based on questions from QA manager or other departments. Carry out document control and communicate changes to the training department. Log samples for the external lab, arrange couriers, ensure sufficient lab supplies. Complete weekly internal KPI reports and customer KPI reports on request. Complete internal audits. Any other reasonable request from line manager. KPI’s Influenced by the Role Key internal networks: Report and escalate to QA Manager. Source explanations of modification proposals from the submitting department. Discussion of modification proposals with QA Manager. Consultation with customer QA managers/specialists concerning customer complaints. Present research and reports, hold complaint reduction meetings, assist in training and instruction to employees, assist in customer visits and dealing with customer queries, and present topic of responsibility in audits. Role Factors Stakeholders QA Inspector Shift Manager Process Supervisor Packaging Supervisor Job Skills, Qualifications & Experience Good communication skills and a can‑do attitude. Ability to challenge existing standards and persistence to ensure improvements are made. Supervisory experience is a plus. Qualifications Minimum GCSE in Maths and English (or equivalent). Industry‑recognised QA qualification/training desirable. Chemical training, H+S, HACCP, GMP, and Food Safety desirable. Internal audit training desirable. Degree in a food‑related subject desirable. Experience 2+ years in a quality food manufacturing role. Knowledge of MS Office and SAP/SCADA Root cause analysis. Internal/Lead auditor training. HACCP Level 3.
