This post has been supported by the Cancer Alliance and a key component of the role will be to support development of reporting suites and performance dashboards using a variety of different sources in order to improve our cancer pathways, to support improved clinical outcomes and experience for our patients. As the Cancer BI Developer & Analyst, you will be part of a team designing and implementing new processes and systems to transform the way we work and enable our clinical, corporate and support staff to focus their time on what matters most. You will optimise the use of existing systems and data as well as implement new solutions. The postholder will provide support directly to the Cancer Services team along with working closely with the Information Services team. Main duties of the job To provide a professional Business Intelligence (BI) information service to the Cancer Services team, other service usersand clinicians. Developing intelligence reporting solutions by extracting information from a variety of electronic and manual information systems, and using the most effective information technology products for the analysis and presentation of information outputs. Supporting the Cancer team to ensure the trust can meet and maintain national cancer data submissions in a timely and accurate manner. Extract high quality data. Support peers and stakeholders as a subject matter expert through troubleshooting, analysing and recommending best course of action. Support end users of information with appropriate analyses and interpretation of data to meet the business and service objectives of the Trust. Be a senior figure in the BI team and Cancer transformation group to guide and support others. Regularly assist clinical and non-clinical staff in their conduct of research or development work and support the Trusts’ Clinical Audit and Effectiveness programme. To be responsible and accountable for external audit regarding data quality and submission accuracy. Detailed job description and main responsibilities To ensure that regular, timely and accurate information is provided to Trust management and cliniciansbytheapplicationofappropriateanalytical andpresentationtechniquestodataextracted from any of the Trust’s information systems, covering patient based systems in conjunction with the trust’s cancer specific systems. This will involve determining the requirements of the managers,informationanalystsand others concerned,andthendevelopingappropriatesoftware and tools for the extraction and analysis of data and the presentation of information. To scope design, develop and maintain information reporting systems, databases, integrated and automateddashboardsandquerytoolsrequiredtosupportthe TrustanditsDivisionsonaroutine basis around cancer data. Ensuring that new reporting requirements meet business needs and are integrated and automated for efficiency and time saving for stakeholders and enable self-service. Providedevelopedexpertspecialistsupportandadviceon datamanipulation,transformation and presentation to relevant staff. Toensurethatthe IM&Thousekeepinganddataqualitytasksassociatedwithsuchsystemsanddata are adequately tested and implemented flagging any areas of concern appropriately. Liaise with teams within Digital Technology and Information Services (DTIS) and across the wider Trust to ensure that the most up to date datasets and feeds are available via the data warehouse, tablesanddatabasestoensurethatreportingandsubmissionsarebasedonthemostaccuratedata definitions available. ContributetokeyareasofBusinessIntelligencedevelopment,implementationandmaintenanceof the Business intelligence databases including, data analysis and modelling, Meta data definitions, extraction, transformation and information access. Toresearchandmaintainagoodunderstandingofavailablenewtechnologies/techniquesandbe able to apply as appropriate as well as keeping the team informed of these new technologies. To ensure that all software developed and information outputs produced are documented in accordancewithdepartmentalstandards,areadequatelysecured,andaresubjecttostringent quality assurance tests before output is issued. TomaximisetheuseofInformationTechnologySystemsandBusinessIntelligencetoolsinthe discharge of the duties of the post. Fullyabsorb,interpretandunderstand currentdatadefinitionsanddefinitionalissuesinrelationto areas of specialism & personal knowledge in this area as and when ISN’s or new Department of Health definitions are drafted and/or formally issued. Thedutiesof thepostwill requireintensiveuseofbespokeinformationreportingsystemsand various discrete, patient-based networked information systems. Design,developandimplementdatavalidationandqualityassurancesystemsandmethodologies, ensuring the integrity of data systems and all reporting produced by the service. Regularlyassistclinicalandnon-clinicalstaffintheirconductof researchor developmentworkand support the Trusts’ Clinical Audit and Effectiveness programme. Toberesponsibleandaccountableforexternalauditregardingdataqualityandsubmission accuracy. Person specification Qualifications Educated to Degree level Knowledge In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL server. Knowledge of NHS and acute datasets Skills • Experience of working in an Information Management team of large organisation Key Messages Not all NHS roles are eligible for sponsorship.
