Overview of Client : Our client is one of the UKs leading residential developers, committed to delivering sustainable, high-quality homes and communities. As part of their journey to achieve net zero carbon by 2030, they are undertaking a comprehensive redesign of all standard house types, integrating modern methods of construction, improved materials, and enhanced energy performance. Job Description This role will play a key part in providing accurate cost assessments for their new generation of sustainable house types, benchmarking against existing designs, and supporting informed decision‑making across design, technical, and commercial teams. Roles & responsibilities include but are not limited to : Prepare detailed cost analyses for new and existing standard house types, identifying variances and key cost drivers. Measure from drawings and specifications, both manually and using digital take‑off tools, to produce accurate quantities. Work closely with Group Design, Technical, and Sustainability teams to understand specification changes and their cost implications. Develop and maintain cost comparison reports and databases to support value engineering and procurement decisions. Provide clear commentary on cost movements, highlighting areas of efficiency or increased expenditure. Assist in the development of cost models and standard pricing templates to support group‑wide implementation. Liaise with regional commercial teams to validate assumptions and ensure alignment with site delivery realities. Support Group Procurement and Technical teams in evaluating new materials, systems, and suppliers from a cost perspective. Contribute to reporting and presentations for senior management, providing data‑driven insights and recommendations. Essential Experience Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Cost Planner, or Estimator within the housebuilding or residential construction sector. Strong ability to read, interpret, and measure from technical drawings to scale. Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with a methodical approach to data and cost analysis. Good understanding of modern construction methods, materials, and sustainability considerations. Proficient in Excel and cost management software (e.g. CostX, Bluebeam, Conquest, or similar).
