The Commercial team deals with everything to do with cost-effective building, including quantity surveying, estimating, procurement and material buying.
With a watching brief on choice of material, cost, customer satisfaction and sales, and other critical issues, our Commercial team - which comprises Estimators, Quantity Surveyors and Material Buyers - has one objective: to deliver best quality homes, at the best possible cost. Their work is fundamental to our continued viability as a business and presents a fast-moving challenge that will exercise your creativity and commercial flair to the full.
Reporting to the Finance Manager to ensure the Buying function is carried out efficiently and within budget guidelines for all products and components purchased from Suppliers for BD Living.
You will be expected to:
- Place all orders for materials and components for Production team and source bespoke components and products.
- Maintain tender process to ensure best prices are achieved on all products purchased.
- Liaise with Suppliers to ensure components are stocked and delivered as per scheduled orders.
- Source new Supplier outlets for new products and materials as required.
- Ensure budget guidelines are adhered to for all products and stock required for bedroom and sales centre installations.
- Ensure all bedroom furniture and sales centre modules have associated costs for house types within the Group.
- Maintain order books for new product codes and adjust prices as appropriate.
- Create reports based on product usage and budgets.
- Provide analysis on Supplier trends and benchmark prices as appropriate.
- Provide bespoke quotations for products as per order requirements.
- Ensure pricing controls are monitored and any risks highlighted as appropriate.
- Oversee stock-takes on a quarterly basis.
- Carry out monthly audit for Goods-In products to ensure budgets are maintained.
- Carry out any ad-hoc projects as may be required within Finance and Buying departments.
- Attend department finance and supplier meetings and produce reports as required.
What you'll need?
To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
- Experience in Buying and Estimating functions.
- Fiscal awareness to maintain budgets.
- Good product knowledge of components and products as required.
- The ability to communicate on all levels.
- Excellent organisation skills.
- The ability to produce reports using Microsoft software packages as required.
- The ability to work independently and also be a team player.
