About the roleWe are looking for Lecturers / Senior Lecturers in the disciplines of Leadership; and Operations and Logistics. You will develop and teach a range of academic modules and professional short courses for our executive education portfolio, helping to drive enterprise activity across the region and beyond. For enquiries regarding your application and sponsorship eligibility, please contact the recruitment team via [emailaddress].Principal accountabilitiesLearning / TeachingEffectively teach and facilitate learning on a range of subjects / modules within the subject area on executive undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and post-experience programmes.Ensure that knowledge from research and scholarly activities informs and enhances learning and teaching, including knowledge transfer activities.Ensure module / programme design and delivery comply with the University quality standards and regulations.Participate in assessment processes, including setting, marking and moderation of student work, providing constructive feedback in line with quality assurance procedures.Contribute to continuing review and development of module/programme delivery with innovative study modes and pedagogic practices to engage students and develop the Derby Graduate attributes.Take on module leader and/or programme leader responsibilities, including marketing, recruitment and ongoing programme development activities.Research / ScholarshipEngage in individual research and collaborate on projects aligned with the College and REF contributions.Publish in appropriate journals and present at scholarly events; develop links with professional, research and industrial organisations.Contribute to bids for externally funded research projects.OtherAct as a personal tutor, provide pastoral care, and support student recruitment and marketing activities as required.Develop external links to support student recruitment, placements, outreach, income generation or future activity.Contribute to administrative duties in admissions, timetabling, examinations and assessment progress and attendance; collaborate across College / University.Observe and implement University policies and procedures.Person specificationEssential CriteriaGood Honours Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject; or equivalent professional experienceFellowship of the Advanced HE (HEA) or willingness to work towards within 24 monthsPhD (or submission awaiting examination) or equivalent across a relevant subject area, or willingness to work towards within an agreed timeframeSubject-specific qualifications / knowledgeExperienceExperience and achievement in the academic discipline communicated to diverse audiences; growing national reputationLearning / TeachingExperience or knowledge of quality assurance and validation of HE modules / programmesExperience or knowledge of HE delivery techniques to inspire and engage studentsResearch / ScholarshipSignificant experience in own discipline contributing to new knowledgeExperience of research / enterprise activity and publishing in high-quality journals or outputs that contribute to REF or related strategiesSkills, knowledge & abilitiesDigital capability to support learning, and IT proficiency for technology-enhanced learning / teaching and researchStrong written and oral communication; networking and relationship-building skillsIndependent self-management and teamwork; ability to manage competing priorities and deadlinesProfessionalism in learning / teaching aligned with UK PSF; understanding of the HE environment and employability agenda; awareness of internationalisationFlexible, innovative, and committed to continual enhancement and high-quality student experienceA drive for a high-performance culture and quality improvementBusiness requirementsFlexible approach to travel between sites, occasional overseas work, and attendance at events; some evening and occasional weekend teaching; commitment to professional developmentBenefitsCompetitive pay scales with generous holiday entitlement; potential for salary progression based on performance; contributory pension scheme.How to applyYou can apply online.
