Join Awanui Labs Hawkes Bay as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician in Haematology, performing routine testing with a supportive team in a sunny location. Your Role Here’s what you will be doing: Perform routine haematology testing and blood film morphology. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of laboratory results in line with quality standards. Participate in internal and external quality control programmes. Maintain laboratory equipment and report any issues to ensure optimal performance. Follow established laboratory processes and quality systems. Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and procedures. Keep up to date with developments in haematology and maintain professional standards. Perform Biochemistry and Specimen Reception duties as needed. Work within a small, friendly team with civilised shift patterns including weekday hours, evening shifts, and Saturday overtime; no Sundays or on-call. About You The company is looking for: Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and an Annual Practising Certificate. Ability to work rostered shifts, including weekends. Routine haematology and blood film morphology experience; Biochemistry experience desirable. Strong commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and high-quality results. Proven ability to interpret complex laboratory data and report findings confidently. Skilled in workflow prioritisation and working collaboratively in a team environment. Familiarity with quality assurance systems and a proactive approach to continuous improvement. Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide technical and scientific advice. Methodical work approach adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines. Committed to health and safety compliance and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
