Fluvial Flood Risk Modelling Officer - 32404 Environment Agency Job Description We are recruiting a fluvial flood risk modelling officer to join our national flood risk evidence modelling service. The team supports and assures the Environment Agency’s Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) programmes to deliver our core ambition of a nation resilient to climate change. Our modelling services provide the evidence base for flood management and inform strategic decision‑making, supporting the ambitions of EA2030. Responsibilities Advise and guide flood risk management teams on hydraulic and hydrological modelling. Develop your own data management, hydraulic and hydrological modelling capabilities. Communicate flood risk analysis and results with internal and external stakeholders. Advise on appropriate tools and techniques for hydrological and hydraulic modelling approaches. Demonstrate positive health, safety, and wellbeing behaviours. Use your technical skills to support incident management. Experience and Skills Required Experience in science, flood risk and/or data management. Ability to analyse and process data and information. Good communication and customer service skills. Ability to influence and persuade. Ability to achieve results and work as part of a team. Ability to make decisions and solve problems. Awareness of health, safety and wellbeing with a commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity. Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. It Would Also Be Useful To Understand how flood risk evidence supports investment programmes and mapping projects. Hold skills in flood modelling software (e.g., Flood Estimation Handbook, Flood Modeller, TuFLOW, InfoWorks ICM). Have skills in data processing, management, and GIS software.
