Junior Data Engineer – 32482 Environment Agency is looking for a Junior Data Engineer to join the Digital Services team within National Evidence and Business (E&B). The role involves modernising systems and IT infrastructure, moving towards Microsoft Azure, Synapse Analytics, Fabric and PowerBI, and building data products and analytics tools for the Water Quality user community. Responsibilities and Experience Extensive experience managing and analysing large datasets from multiple sources. Experience organising data in STAR schema data models for reliable querying and analysis. Experience building and maintaining reliable ETL pipelines. Strong Python expertise, including clean reusable functions and OOP code for production solutions. Solid knowledge of SQL Server and data warehousing best practices. Proficiency with analytical tools and languages to transform raw data into actionable insights. Ability to solve complex problems, formulate efficient and innovative solutions using sound data management practices. Ability to work effectively with diverse backgrounds, promoting inclusion and collaboration. Additional Information You’ll have an inclusive incident management objective in your development plan. Appropriate training will be provided. Your base location is the EA Office; the role is national and flexible / hybrid. Applications are "blind" assessed using competency questions. Interviews will be via MS Teams within four weeks of the closing date. Consent for a reserve list for 6 months may be given. Data and Information Management – provide an example of a complex data management task.
