Senior Medical Workforce Officer – Rotas The post holder supports the assurance and compliance of the Trust’s Medical Workforce against NHS England contractual standards, with a focus on medical workforce rota compliance. Responsibilities Generate and distribute reports related to rota design and compliance as required. Ensure all rotas comply with medical terms and conditions and address safety of working hours with the Guardian of Safe Working. Act as the first point of contact for creating and changing rotas, providing expert advice on rota compliance and contractual standards. Provide varied administrative support to the wider Medical Workforce Team. Provide detailed support on operational Medical Workforce issues, ensuring Trust policies, national terms and conditions of employment for doctors are adhered to and that rotas conform to Resident Doctor terms and conditions. Operational Support Details Terms and conditions of employment for doctors and Trust policy Ensuring rotas comply with Resident Doctor terms and conditions Ensuring all rotas are included on e‑rota E‑live and kept up to date Ensuring resident doctors have access to and training for exception reporting Create and distribute all Resident Doctor generic work schedules in line with Service terms and codes of practice Work alongside the Guardian of Safe Working on rott data and exception reports Provide data to the Guardian of Safe Working for board reports Recruitment and selection of medical staff Employee relations queries specifically related to rotas Advise on best practice and liaise with recruitment team regarding rota changes reflected in job descriptions, contracts and databases Design Short‑Term Full‑Time (LTFT) rotas, complete LTFT paperwork and liaise with LTFT doctors and group managers Produce information for generic work schedules detailing working hours, shift patterns, pay structures and training opportunities Coordinate development of complex rotas for medical and dental staff, ensuring compliance with Resident Doctor terms and patient care requirements, and maintaining e‑rota records Advise clinical group managers and Resident Doctors on changes to rotas impacting contract or training compliance Update rota changes on e‑rota, issue new work schedules and contracts as required Qualifications and Experience Excellent customer service skills. Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages. Ability to work effectively in a busy environment with changing priorities and deadlines. Previous experience in an NHS medical workforce/staffing role desirable but not essential. Employment Details No sponsorship available for this post. Proposed interview date: 06th January 2026.
