We are a recognised component of UKRI’s research infrastructure and hold the CoreTrustSeal. We are based in the University of York but work closely with external partners, both in Higher Education and in the public and commercial archaeological sectors. In addition to our internal bespoke systems that underpin the workflows of our digital preservation activity, the ADS also hosts public-facing services to facilitate the collection of digital material. These include ADS-easy for online deposition of files, and OASIS, a system for the recording of fieldwork events in the UK, hosted on behalf of national heritage agencies. The ADS is located within the Department of Archaeology in the medieval King’s Manor building in central York. The successful applicant will be a member of staff at the University of York, including a pension scheme and a wide range of Employee benefits. The ADS also implements a flexible working policy, with hybrid working encouraged.RoleThe purpose of this role is to help increase the ADS’s commercial income and support the Collections Development Manager. The postholder will conduct market research into current client networks to gain better understanding of the demands and barriers to deposition and explore new markets. The postholder will also undertake cost analysis under supervision of the Collection Development Manager and aid in the development of new cost models. The role includes customer focused duties such as providing and following up on quotations, maintaining an up-to-date client list and maintaining accurate records for commercial projects within the ADS’s Collection Management System. The role will have a crucial part to play in developing the ADS commercial client base, increasing commercial revenue, forging new partnerships and strengthening our reputation as a world-leading digital archive for the UK’s national heritage sector.
