Vacancy for Archaeology Data Service Project Manager at University of YorkVacancy for Archaeology Data Service Project Manager at University of YorkYork£33,309 - £40,927 a yearFull-TimeDepartmentThe Archaeology Data Service (ADS) is based within the Department of Archaeology, and is located within the medieval King’s Manor building in central York. It is a world-leading digital repository which provides digital data archiving services for UK archaeology. We are a recognised component of UKRI’s research infrastructure and hold the Core Trust Seal. We are based in the University of York but work closely with external partners, both in Higher Education and in the public and commercial archaeological sectors. All archived data is available Open Access and ADS funding is equally split between data deposit charges and research and consultancy, including a number of international projects. The ADS also manages the highly regarded Open Access journal, Internet Archaeology. Currently 15 staff are employed. The ADS also hosts public-facing services to facilitate the collection of digital material. These includeADS-EASY for online deposition of files, andOASIS , a system for the recording of fieldwork events in the UK hosted on behalf of national heritage agencies.RoleThis is a new role designed to support an increasing volume of ADS activity, and to take a lead role in providing online and face-to-face training for ADS data depositors and end-users of ADS data resources. The post-holder will also be expected to manage the online helpdesk, oversee the communications group, and to work closely with the Collections Development Manager and Research Projects Manager to identify opportunities, and build up and manage an expanding client portfolio. The post-holder will also support and manage a number of projects, taking responsibility for their successful delivery on schedule and within budget.Skills, Experience & Qualification neededThe successful applicant will hold a relevant degree or postgraduate degree, or equivalent professional qualifications. You will have an excellent knowledge of UK archaeology, and the key organisations which make up the UK’s historic environment sector. You should also have an understanding of the principles and practices of digital preservation and the relevant data standards.You will have good problem solving skills, an organised approach and be a good communicator, as well as able to adapt to changing priorities to support team members at short notice. You will have good IT skills and a high degree of attention to detail.You should have project management experience and a track record of successful project completion. You will be a confident presenter and may have designed and delivered training courses to audiences at a variety of levels, with a focus on excellent customer service. #J-18808-Ljbffr
