We’re looking for a passionate, experienced HLTA to join the founding team at our brand-new Options Autism School – Claystone School in Luton. About the Role As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will be a key part of our classroom and school community, helping deliver engaging learning and supporting the emotional and academic development of our pupils. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure all pupils achieve their potential in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities Deliver tailored lessons and support learning under the guidance of teaching staff. Cover lessons in the absence of the teacher when required. Model and promote positive behaviour support and inclusive practice. Mentor and guide Teaching Assistants, helping to build a strong, collaborative support team. Plan and create engaging learning resources. Track and report on pupil progress, development, and behaviour. Champion pupil welfare, safeguarding, and individual development. Essential Qualifications & Experience GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, Grade C/4 or above. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a school setting. Proven experience supporting pupils with autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and complex learning needs. Key Attributes Nurturing, patient, and adaptable. Confident working independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Committed to safeguarding and achieving positive outcomes for pupils. About our school Claystone School – a brand-new specialist school in Luton for autistic children aged 4–11, recently opened in January 2025. Situated in Pepperstock, Luton, Claystone School is a small, independent setting supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and a range of additional learning difficulties.
