We're looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to support a range of finance activities—from invoice processing to month-end reconciliations—while ensuring compliance with internal policies and financial regulations.The role is based in our Northampton office with the opportunity to work from home 2 days per week, if required.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess and verify invoices accurately, following established approval workflows.Prepare and execute payment runs, including electronic transfers and cheque payments.Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable records and ledgers.Support month‑end close activities, including reconciliations and journal entries.Liaise with internal teams and external vendors to resolve queries and improve processes.Monitor accounts payable aging and ensure timely payments.Assist with audit preparations by providing relevant documentation and explanations.About youExperience in a high-volume accounts payable or finance role.Solid understanding of accounting principles and procedures.Proficient in Microsoft Excel.Highly organised with strong attention to detail.Proactive problem-solver with a collaborative mindset.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.AAT qualification (or equivalent) preferred—study support available.We are committed to ensuring you have the best career here at Sage.
