SEMH Teaching Assistant in Lelyand SEMH ProvisionFull‑Time | Long‑Term | Temporary‑to‑Permanent Opportunity We are recruiting a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school setting that supports children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a full‑time position offering long‑term stability, with the potential to secure a permanent contract following a successful introductory period. The Role As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils who require a nurturing, structured, and consistent approach. Working alongside experienced teaching and pastoral staff, you will help create a positive environment that supports emotional regulation, develops confidence, and encourages engagement in learning. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEMH needs Assist in implementing personalised learning and behaviour plans Build positive, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe and supported Promote emotional wellbeing, resilience, and social development Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals Help manage challenging behaviours using school‑approved strategies and de‑escalation techniques Ideal Candidate Experience supporting young people with SEMH, challenging behaviours, or additional needs Confident, calm, and able to build rapport quickly Compassionate, resilient, and proactive Able to adapt to the individual needs of pupils A background in education, care, youth work, sports coaching, or similar is beneficial What We Offer Full‑time, long‑term position with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract Supportive staff team and access to specialist training A rewarding role where your impact truly matters If you’re passionate about helping young people overcome barriers and thrive in a supportive specialist environment, we’d love to hear from you.
