Advanced Practitioner (Social Worker) – Ref: SS03725 Walsall Council – West Midlands, England, United Kingdom. Salary: G10; £47,181 - £50,269 Employment type: Full time, 37 hours per week, permanent. Location: Office-based during establishment of the team, subject to review. About the role: An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Duty Team (locality based) within Walsall. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated competence in supporting staff and a commitment to professional development, holding a post‑qualifying qualification as a BIA, Practice Educator or AMHP. You will assist Team Managers by supporting and overseeing front‑line duty practitioners, working closely with our internal reablement team, community assets and health colleagues. Responsibilities include completion of practice development, liaising closely with locality‑based teams to provide a robust customer experience and improve outcomes for adults in Walsall, ensuring all staff operate in accordance with legislation, council policies, service standards and the Social Work Code of Practice. You will facilitate practice improvement and development through reflective supervision, appraisal, mentoring and driving quality standards. Responsibilities: Developing strong community links and promotion of community assets. Delivery of information and advice in a timely and outcomes‑focused approach. Delivering strengths‑based assessments. Supporting planning and reviews under the Care Act 2014. Risk Assessments and risk management. Mental Capacity Assessments. Recognising an Adult Safeguarding concern and raising new referrals. About You: We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed professional, ideally qualified as an AMHP, BIA or Practice Educator with experience supervising and supporting staff. The successful applicant will support day‑to‑day oversight, improve outcomes for adults in Walsall, and ensure compliance with legislation, council policies, service standards, and the Social Work England Code of Practice. You will lead and develop team behaviours, set standards for Social Work practice and assessment approaches, and demonstrate dynamic problem solving. A ‘can do’ approach, focus on continuous improvement and measurable outcomes, is essential.
