Research and audit are actively encouraged and supported in the department with ample opportunities. The post is for a permanent contract. The post is offered with a job plan of 10 Professional Activities (PAs). On‑call duties (1:8-1:9) are offered based on relevant experience and departmental need. Responsibilities Outpatient activity – undertake general, specialist, cataract clinics. EERS/Emergency Duties (Eye Emergency Referral Service) – provide referral triage, emergency and urgent diagnosis and treatment, liaison with senior medical staff, assist with emergency surgery, cover for colleagues on leave, and provide on‑call support. Theatre activity – support in theatres and undertake independent theatre sessions in line with abilities. Ward rounds – attend ward rounds and examine pre‑ and post‑operative patients, cover leave and provide continuity of care. Qualifications & Personal Attributes The person for this role will be able to: Form effective relationships with staff and external colleagues. Be flexible and able to adapt to different situations. Be self‑motivated and able to organise own workload. Be confident and self‑assured in delivering ophthalmology services. Relate to patients/relatives in an understanding and sympathetic manner.
