Job SummaryPrincipal Clinical Psychologist in Neuropsychology/Neuro-Oncology – Band 8B, 0.8 WTE (30 Hours per Week). Join the awake craniotomy service at the University Hospital of North Midlands, a Centre of Excellence in Neuro‑Oncology, providing neuropsychological and psychological expertise to patients undergoing awake craniotomies for brain tumours.About the roleThe post‑holder will perform a wide range of clinical duties including pre‑operative assessment, intra‑operative support, post‑operative rehabilitation, and psychological interventions. They will lead complex risk assessments, develop case formulations, and work closely with the multidisciplinary team to optimise patient care.ResponsibilitiesProvide neuropsychological assessment, formulation, therapy and rehabilitation for patients with cognitive, emotional and behavioural difficulties relating to a brain tumour.Deliver psychological expertise pre‑, intra‑ and post‑operatively to patients undergoing awake craniotomies.Conduct risk assessments and provide specialist advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk management.Develop case formulations using appropriate theoretical models and evidence‑based practice, adjusting and refining them over time.Lead clinical leadership for junior psychologists, ensuring high‑quality assessment and intervention for complex co‑morbid physical and mental health conditions.Provide individual and family support for patients experiencing psychological distress, trauma, delirium or other post‑operative complications.Apply evidence‑based interventions such as EMDR and/or CBT for trauma, and provide psycho‑educational support where required.Make onward referrals to appropriate teams within UHNM and contribute to multidisciplinary care planning.Maintain and develop community referral pathways in collaboration with local services (e.g. IAPT, CMHT, mental health liaison).Report safeguarding concerns, including child protection and situations of client harm or abuse, in accordance with NHS policy.Analyse complex client information from multiple sources (tests, interviews, observations) and formulate care plans accordingly.Person SpecificationDoctorate in Clinical Psychology and Academic Component of the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology.HCPC registration as a practitioner psychologist.Post‑qualification experience with adults having an acquired neurological condition.Experience performing or observing awake craniotomies for brain tumour patients and working within a medical MDT.Experience working with patients with brain cancer.Current UK professional registration.DetailsLocation: Bennett Centre, Stoke-on-Trent, ST1 4ND.Band: 8B.Salary: £64,455 to £74,896 per annum pro rata.Contract: Permanent.Working pattern: Part‑time (0.8 WTE).Reference number: 232‑SPL‑7493656‑A.Disclosure and Barring Service CheckApplicants must submit a Disclosure and Barring Service check in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. #J-18808-Ljbffr
