Consultant Radiologist (GI Radiology)The closing date is 02 December 2025We are delighted to be advertising a post for a Consultant Radiologist at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in GI imaging. The post‑holder will support the delivery of specialist imaging services, including cancer and non‑cancer work. The role will also include service commitment to the abdominal sarcoma service at UCLH.This is an NHS consultant post within the Department of Radiology in the Imaging Division of the Surgery and Cancer Clinical Board.The post carries a requirement for general/emergency diagnostic radiology.The post‑holder must have sub‑specialty experience in GI radiology, as well as skills and experience in general radiology and oncology imaging to support the delivery of services. The Radiology Department is very active in both teaching and clinical innovation, and the post‑holder would be expected to participate in these.Applicants should possess the FRCR or equivalent and be on the specialist register or within 6 months of obtaining their CCST.Main duties of the jobThe main duties of this post are as follows:Perform all aspects of diagnostic GI radiology including benign and cancer imaging. This will include specialist MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, ultrasound and plain radiographs.Provide support for GI cancer and non‑cancer GI MDTs.Support the abdominal sarcoma service.Develop the radiology service under the guidance of the clinical leads.Participate in teaching and training.Participate in audit.Participate in the general radiology day‑time and on‑call acute team service with supervision of resident doctors.Other clinical services including diagnostic and interventional GI ultrasound may be included in the role depending on the skills and experiences of the candidate.About UCLHUniversity College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is one of the most complex NHS trusts in the UK, providing academically led acute and specialist services to a diverse population. The trust specialises in women’s health, cancer, infection, neurological, gastrointestinal and oral disease and offers world‑class imaging, nuclear medicine and pathology services.Person SpecificationKnowledge and QualificationsEligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise.Relevant CCT or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of GMC).Entry on the GMC specialist register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of AAC.ExperienceAt least one year of recognised sub‑specialty training in GI imaging.Demonstrable experience in general, acute and oncology imaging.Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrable expertise in reporting GI imaging.Broad reporting ability in acute and general diagnostic imaging.General oncology reporting skills.Luminal GI and endoanal ultrasound experience.Whole‑body MRI reporting.CommunicationAbility to communicate with clarity and intelligence in written and spoken English; ability to build rapport, listen and negotiate with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other agencies.Personal and People DevelopmentEvidence of leadership skills.Specific RequirementsGood knowledge of imaging techniques in GI diseases.Evidence of a track record in radiological research and ethics.Experience of supervising junior medical staff.Good organisational and management skills.Ability to act within the clinical governance framework of the NHS.Computing and IT skills.Higher research degree (PhD/MDres).Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and will require a Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 a year + London weighting (on‑call Cat B, Low 1%) #J-18808-Ljbffr
