Salaried General Practitioner - HIPC PCN North Staffordshire GP Federation Job Summary We are expanding our team with Salaried General Practitioners to work across the HIPC Primary Care Network (PCN) footprint. This role is ideal for newly qualified GPs—those within two years of completing training—who are not currently in a substantive GP practice position. Working with our dynamic group of practices, you will provide autonomous clinical care while supporting practice training and development. Key Responsibilities Offer surgery, telephone, and home consultations, and manage repeat prescriptions in line with the PCN rota. Make autonomous clinical decisions for self‑referenced or referred patients. Assess and manage patients with undiagnosed or undifferentiated conditions. Screen for disease risk factors and early illness signs. Develop and review care plans in line with current practice disease‑management protocols. Provide counselling, health education, and discharge or admit patients appropriately. Record clear, contemporary consultation notes to agreed standards and contribute to audit data collection. Prescribe according to the practice formulary and issue acute & repeat prescriptions. Respond to on‑call requests and PCN Enhanced Service hours as scheduled. Attend training and professional development events and support medical students, GP registrars, and other training roles. Promote patient education on service pressures, care options, and information safety. Raise concerns about patient safety or quality of care to senior clinical leadership. Training & Meetings Attend practice or agency‑organised training and events. Participate positively in clinical and practice meetings. Support medical students and other training roles as part of the PCN ethos. Manage patient care efficiently while balancing continuity and access. Essential Qualities and Attributes Adaptable, open to change, and patient‑centred. Respectful, kind, and confident in decision‑making. Effective planner, works well under pressure, and meets deadlines. Reliable team player who takes initiative and is self‑motivated. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information. Other Requirements Meets DBS reference standards; clear criminal record. Flexible working hours to meet demand. Champion equality and diversity. Complies with Confidentiality and Data Protection Act. Prioritises competing demands effectively. Skills and Knowledge Autonomous and multidisciplinary team working. Problem‑solving and analytical skills. Competent use of MS Office and internet applications. Good telephone and interpersonal communication skills. Detail‑oriented with excellent written and verbal communication. Desirable Knowledge General Practice clinical systems such as EMIS, SystmOne. GP commissioning and ICB initiatives. Quality and Outcomes Framework, patient choice, medicines management. Experience Under 2 years from qualification. Triage knowledge and primary care experience. Knowledge of clinical governance and QOF. Experienced in medicines management and patient choice. Capable of handling stressful situations. Qualifications Qualified General Practitioner. Full GMC Registration to practice as a GP. Inclusion on Performers List. Eligibility for Medical Indemnity Membership. Commitment to professional development. Eligibility to work in the UK. Desirable: MRCGP. Disclosure and Barring Service Check Applicants must have current UK professional registration.
