We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist post in the NYYS CAMHS Crisis team. Our locality-wide service provides young people under the age of 18 and their carers/families with access to 24/7 crisis support. The post will be based in York; however, you will be expected to travel around the locality/bases during your shift to provide clinical leadership and meet the clinical demand of the service. Therefore, it is essential that applicants can travel independently across the whole locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. You will be able to claim for your work mileage incurred during your working day and have access to the Team pool car. Main duties of the job Experienced in conducting psycho‑social assessment, risk assessments and robust safety plans for young people experiencing mental health crisis. You will lead a team of clinicians, support the co‑ordination of the shift, provide clinical direction to junior staff whilst maintaining clear clinical oversight across the locality. You will demonstrate good communication skills when dealing with young people, families, colleagues and other professionals from partner agencies ensuring that professional standards are maintained. Providing sound clinical decisions in crisis situations to help reduce and manage the potential risk of harm. About Us We are a friendly and supportive team who welcome new members of staff. Graduate qualification in a governed psychological therapy such as CBT, SFT, DBT, or willingness to complete within the first year. Professional registration in Nursing with a minimum of 2 years Band 6 experience, preferably in CAMHS. Supported staff induction period to build knowledge and skills. Person Specification – Essential Qualifications Current professional registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council (RMN/RNLD/RGN (RNSC – CAMHS Only)). Recognised practice assessor/supervisor or in progress. Trained in clinical supervision and providing or in process of achieving. Postgraduate diploma in a relevant subject or willing to achieve within 2 years; within first year hold a recognised qualification in a governed therapy (e.g., Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy, Postgrad diploma in CBT, British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, NMP). Equivalent clinical experience at post‑grad diploma/master level with evidence of relevant CPD. Experience Significant experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field. Significant experience with patients who display risk behaviours. Experience in clinical risk assessment, management and application in practice. Working collaboratively with service users, families and carers. Working in a multi‑disciplinary team. Quality improvement activities. Knowledge Extensive knowledge of health needs of patients in the field of practice at regional and national level. Understanding and working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act. Clinical risk assessment and management, and application in practice. Clinical governance and its application in practice. Working knowledge of clinical medicines management. Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment (depending on specialist area).
