Job Summary Join Our Expert Team as a Consultant in Orthodontics at Liverpool University Dental Hospital – a centre of excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research. Substantive Post | 0.4 - 1.0 WTE | 10 PAs. Responsibilities Provide consultant‑led orthodontic care, including new patient assessments and treatment planning. Supervise and teach undergraduate and postgraduate students, including StRs and post‑CCST trainees. Collaborate with colleagues across specialties such as Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Paediatric Dentistry and Restorative Dentistry. Participate in quality improvement, clinical governance and research initiatives. Engage in collaborative regional working with Consultant Orthodontists across Cheshire and Merseyside. Contribute to service development, clinical governance and CPD. Qualifications & Requirements Registration – Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council and inclusion on the Orthodontic Specialist List. Professional Qualifications – Membership in Orthodontics or equivalent; possession of a CCST in Orthodontics (or within 6 months of completion) and the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination in Orthodontics (or equivalent). Clinical Experience – Experience in the multi‑disciplinary management of orthodontic patients and day‑to‑day clinical management of an orthodontic service. Research – Ability to appraise scientific literature critically; participation in clinical research and peer‑reviewed publications is desirable. Teaching – Experience of postgraduate and undergraduate teaching and training at an appropriate level; teaching qualification and supervision of StRs/postgraduates are desirable. Quality Improvement – Effective participation in clinical audit/service evaluations/quality improvement programmes; lead role in QI initiatives is desirable. Personal Skills – Strong communication, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities; ability to manage others, work in multi‑professional teams, supervise junior medical staff, and demonstrate empathy, organisation, vigilance and resilience.
