We’re looking for an exceptional Consultant in Orthodontics to join our vibrant, multidisciplinary team at the Liverpool University Dental Hospital (LUDH) — a centre of excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and supportive team of Consultant Orthodontists, orthodontic therapists, trainees, and academic colleagues. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality orthodontic care, education, and service development. Main duties of the job Provide consultant-led orthodontic care, including new patient assessments and treatment planning. Supervise and teach undergraduate and postgraduate students, including StRs and post-CCST trainees. Collaborate with colleagues across specialties including Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Paediatric Dentistry, and Restorative Dentistry. Participate in quality improvement, clinical governance, and research initiatives. Will have the opportunity to engage in collaborative regional working with Consultant Orthodontists across Cheshire and Merseyside. Person specification Registration Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council. On the Orthodontic Specialist list of the United Kingdom General Dental Council. Professional Qualifications Membership in Orthodontics or Equivalent. Possession of a CCST in Orthodontics (or within 6 months of achievement) or Equivalent. Possession of the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Examination in Orthodontics (before commencing post) or Equivalent. Other Postgraduate qualification in Orthodontics or equivalent (e.g. MSc , Professional Doctorate). Clinical Experience in the multi‑disciplinary management of orthodontic patients. Management Experience in the day to day clinical management of an Orthodontic service. Clinical leadership experience in Orthodontics. Research Ability to appraise scientific literature critically. Research qualification (e.g. MRes, PhD). Participation in clinical research. Publications in peer reviewed journals. Participation in research relevant to Orthodontics. Teaching Experience of postgraduate and undergraduate teaching and training at an appropriate level. Teaching qualification. Experience in supervising StRs and postgraduates. Quality Improvement Effective participation in clinical audit/service evaluations/quality improvement programmes. Lead role in the delivery of QI initiatives. Personal Communication Skills: Demonstrates clarity in written/spoken communication & capacity to adapt language as appropriate to the situation. Able to build rapport, listen, persuade & negotiate.
