Progress Teachers are working with a highly regarded Specialist SEN School in Nottingham to recruit an experienced and passionate ASC Specialist Teaching Assistant.The school supports pupils aged 4 to 19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) as well a range of associated learning and communication needs.
This is a full-time role for someone who is committed, patient, and enthusiastic about making a real difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
* Assist teachers in delivering structured, engaging, and differentiated learning activities
* Implement strategies to promote positive communication, independence, and social interaction
* Support emotional regulation and wellbeing using positive behaviour support techniques
* Help to create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure a consistent approach
* Contribute to classroom preparation, record-keeping, and progress reviews
Requirements
* Previous experience supporting young people with ASC or complex communication needs (essential)
* A nurturing, patient, and adaptable approach to working with children and young people
* Strong understanding of autism support strategies, including PECS, Makaton, or sensory-based approaches (highly advantageous)
* Relevant qualification such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary SEN team
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
