Senior Buyer My client based on the outskirts of St Ives, Cambridgeshire, is recruiting for a Senior Buyer to join their team on a full‑time permanent basis. The role will support sales and other teams by sourcing, ordering and expediting goods, materials, and services to meet operational needs while ensuring continuity of supply. Office‑based position, 5 days a week. Hours: 8:00 – 17:30, Monday – Friday. Salary: £25,000 – £30,000, depending on experience. Own transport required. Preferred if you have experience as a Junior Buyer, Purchasing Assistant/Controller, or Expeditor. Key Responsibilities Identify gaps and delays in component delivery with buyers, planners and production. Engage suppliers to coordinate timing, resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues, and communicate updates to the team. Provide and update relevant reports as necessary. Attend production and sales meetings. Perform admin duties, maintaining accurate records following company policies and procedures. Collaborate with production to meet planning requirements and update systems to reflect changes or impacts. Run and action monthly end‑of‑month and new‑month reports. Communicate with the line manager to evaluate vendor performance. Notify stakeholders of scheduled delivery dates to ensure continuity of supply. Manage and purchase stock levels of production consumables. Identify cost‑reducing opportunities in procurement of goods and services. Maintain professional and consistent supplier and customer relationships, reporting meetings back to the team. Receive training and guidance where required. Be willing to learn new skills and undertake new duties relevant to the role. What We Are Looking For Minimum of two years’ experience in purchasing. Exposure to or knowledge of the electronic industry. Strong communication and negotiation skills. Excellent IT skills, including intermediate Excel proficiency. Good working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems desirable. Strong eye for detail. Ability to prioritise own workload. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Self‑motivated and enthusiastic.
