OverviewAbout the Role: An established Hitchin manufacturing firm is seeking an accomplished HR Advisor. This standalone role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive HR support and ensure legal compliance and best practices across all people-related matters. The workforce comprises approximately 50 employees, with a mix of 25% commercial and 75% manual workers.This is a well-rounded and autonomous HR role, best suited to someone who enjoys hands-on work and values stability over upward progression.Part-time | circa 30 hours per week | days and hours to suit youResponsibilitiesEnsure fair, transparent, and legally compliant HR practicesSupport the business in mitigating employment risks by ensuring adherence to current legislation and best practicesMaintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooksProvide professional HR advice and guidance to managers on staff development, performance management, salary reviews, employee relations, and change management initiativesManage the end-to-end recruitment process, ensuring equality, fairness, and compliance with employment lawOversee absence management processes, including return-to-work interviews and occupational health referralsPromote and maintain HR practices that align with the company culture and valuesCoordinate and administer Health and Safety activities in collaboration with the senior management team and boardProvide HR-related data to Finance for the payroll process for hourly-paid staffUndertake additional HR tasks and projects as requestedCarry out all related HR AdminMaintaining valid business licenses, H&S certificates and insurance docsHelping with external auditors requesting evidence of documentationQualificationsA CIPD Postgraduate Qualification (Level 3 or above) or be well qualified by experienceMinimum of 2 years' proven generalist HR experience, including post-qualification advisory responsibilityStrong experience supporting senior management with HR guidanceProven working knowledge of current employment lawKnowledge of on site H&S requirements and documentationExcellent communication skills both written and verbalGood IT proficiency with a sound understanding of email, Word, Excel, and databasesExcellent interpersonal skills with the ability to discuss complex HR issues at both management and staff levelsBe comfortable working independently as a standalone HR professionalDesirable attributesPrevious HR experience within a manufacturing or industrial environmentFamiliarity with factory Health & Safety proceduresExperience with Moorepay or similar HRM/ Payroll systemAdditional points to noteWillingness to travel occasionally for business if requiredThis position is immediately available23 days annual leave per annum, plus Bank Holidays (based on FTE)Annual shutdown during the Christmas period with any working days not covered by Statutory Bank Holiday paid forAuto Enrolment Pension SchemeFree parking at your Hitchin siteHow to ApplyIf you are an accomplished HR Advisor, ideally with experience in an industrial setting and familiar with factory Health & Safety, Tate would love to hear from you.
